I don't know if it its quite what you are looking for but sometimes I will make flour glue and let then coat the pumpkin in glue then stuck on shapes that I cut out of black construction paper. Really you child put the glue on yourself and have her stuck things to it, or just use stickers. Mr. Potato head pieces might work for her too.

C is only 6 months, but I'm going to dip her hands in paint and put her handprints on one of ours. :)

Young House Love did really cute pumpkins with their daughter, I'm sure you can still find it on their blog. I think they put masking tape in the shape they wanted (like, jack o lantern face, or initials) then let their daughter go crazy with finger paint. It came out super cute.

What letting your LO draw faces with washable marker? Like this idea. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/how-much-do-you-let-your-kids-help-decorate-your-home-177759

Here is another idea, they covered the pumpkin by gluing brown paper pieces. It looks cute!

I agree with the paint. My nephew was 15 months old last Halloween. He used finger paints and my SIL sat right beside him to help/supervise. He looked like he had fun!

I would try some finger paints. I mean, if her hands are covered in paint, obviously you will be right there. I would stand behind her and have someone else hold the pumpkin. You would have two hands free to grab her two hands if they headed to her mouth. I mean, yes its paint, but you can buy water based paints that wouldn't kill her if it touched her lips.

@chopsuey119: I'd be too worried she'd stick it in her mouth. And I don't want to use edible paint on a pumpkin and then stick it outside because then it would get buggy.

I think she'd love digging out the Seeds!

My LO is only 14 months old so she's too tiny for pumpkin carving. She doesn't like to color (just wrote a post on this) or I'd hand her a marker and let her go at it on the pumpkin. I'd love to get her involved in decorating the pumpkin in some way, but I'm not sure how. Any ideas?
