I think it is just trial and error on what can keep his interest. Can you try a timer for him and say I will have time for you when it goes off. I think they have those visual ones, but I would just do a standard one to start with. Try not to feel bad about leaving him to his own devices either - kids need to learn to be able to entertain themselves or be comfortable with boredom.

@Bao: I did have one of those M&D sticker books. I pulled it out this morning and he hated it! lol He went and threw it away in a hamper. haha They stick on glass so maybe he will like the stickers on windows.

@sera_87: that's cute about the "baba" thing. DS likes to sit right next to me and play with her feet. It's cute until she's asleep and it starts waking her up. :bummed: He also wants me to read him books which is tough when I'm trying to nurse her.

I either let him play with my phone, have him drink some milk next to me, or play with his bebe.

And sometimes he plays independently or places his hand on the top part of my breast while I nurse (he calls them 'baba' - our word for bottle - so I guess he thinks he's helping to feed him?)

@Smurfette: @Bao: stickers are a good idea! I think I actually have one of those reusable sticker books. I'll have to pull it out for him.

@Seattlemom: thanks for those links!! I hadn't seen those blog posts before.

Stickers! We just got A a Melissa and Doug reusable sticker book and she loves it. The stickers are very easy to peel and don't stick too much to where there is frustration. She's also into coloring stuff. Puzzles.

I'm looking for some ideas/activities/toys that can keep my son occupied while I nurse/take care of my daughter who is 2 weeks old. My son is 22 months right now, so something that he can do on his own and wouldn't need my help.

I have this magnetic book that he likes and I only bring it out occasionally. I was thinking of getting a couple more.

Anyone have any other ideas?

P.S. didn't know appropriate board to put this in so move it if necessary.
