A lot of kids thing they can go into Computer Science and then start programming video games, and it's definitely not that easy. For the majority of people I'd say no, stay far far away. But there are some people who just are a good fit so I'd probably give some warnings of how to navigate but I wouldn't discourage someone if I thought they would enjoy it. </p> <p>@mrs. 64: My mom is a teacher and I get what you're saying, I don't know that she discourages anyone from going into teaching but she is very vocal about thinking most of the changes are dumb and just make teaching worse and the kids learn less. I get so upset by veteran and close to retirement teachers telling future/new teachers that they're making a huge mistake. I had a student teacher this year and some of the older teachers badgered her constantly about making a bad choice and told her to run away on a daily basis. She took it well, but it upset me that people act that negatively. I neither encourage nor discourage. :P I just let her know that schooling is A LOT more work than most people know. The job is not that glamorous and pay is pretty cruddy! haha </p>
