I don't think it's too much to ask at all! I would be asking the same thing from any care provider and I'd probably whip up a little spreadsheet for her to use too. :)

Holden usually only gets watched once a week and most of the time it's a few hours but I don't have anyone write anything down even if it's a full day. I just ask a lot of questions throughout the day and when I get him so know what he's napped, eaten and pooped. No one can ever get him to nap so it's almost pointless to ask that question though!

my mom watches him 1 day a week and my MIL watches him one day a week every other week. we don't have them write anything down, but they know i like a report when i get home haha. they'll tell me the last time he ate(and if it's not a lot they'll say), they'll tell me how much he slept(usually not a lot because he loves being nosey with other people!) and if he pooped. they'll also tell me anything else they think i need to know.

I have an aunt watching her 4 days a week and daycare the other day. I do not have her write down anything. When DH or I pick her up we find out when her last bottle was, how she napped and if she pooped.

What has tended to happen is that towards the end of the week she gives us an update as to where LO is at - eating this frequently, this amount, napping such and such, etc and then we do the same in the beginning of the week almost to let the other person know what to expect as LO's "normal". We then let each other know if anything has changed or seemed out of the ordinary. This wasn't established, it just kind of happened and is working really well. If we're noticing changes or concerned with something, we'll chat about that more frequently but otherwise I know all is status quo unless I hear otherwise. With daycare I study that sheet. I obviously trust our family member more. :)

Yes, I've had my mom do that. It was only for a few days, though. You can ask your mom how she would feel about doing it for the long term.

If you have a family member watch your LO while you are at work, do you have them keep track of feedings/intake and sleep on paper for you?

My mom is watching our son 1 day a week when I'm back at work. She's basically a baby whisperer and I trust her implicitly. However, I'm wondering if I should ask her to keep track of his feedings and sleep on paper (like they do at daycare) so that I can keep track of what he's doing all week while I'm at work (the other 3 days he'll be at daycare). Is that weird or too controlling? I don't want her to be offended, but I also don't want to have to grill her at the end of every day?
