@bluestriped bee: LOL... as long as religion isn't making you feel BAD, then I think it's a fine thing. I could just see how that one woman's comment could be hurtful to people still in flux on their journeys.

@Mrs. Jacks: Yeah, I know it is my biology but I do believe in miracles and I believe having a child is a miracle so that's why I believe some of it (tiny bit) is up to God. Now that I've been through a few IUIs and the IUI should have fixed my DH's male infertility factor, I'm beginning to think it's part of God's plan.

BTW, I am not that religious but re-reading what I wrote right here makes me sound like I am religious.

I struggled with faith during infertility and people who talked about being blessed with children. I just could not figure out why I was not worthy of that blessing. I even thought I had completely lost my faith because of it.

It was a nice letter though. I think anyone who has gone through IF and is now a mother can agree that although we are on the other side of a struggle we still remember the pain and sympathize with everyone who is still struggling.

@bluestriped bee: It's not even my position on religion. I just don't think that god would take a position or intervene in such a way to say, "You deserve a kid. You need to wait. You will adopt."

I just think infertility is biology. Saying "God did this" doesn't help anyone, really... because it makes people who weren't "blessed" in someway feel like it was their fault that they weren't faithful enough or something. Know what I mean? I don't think god is in the business of determining who is worthy to be a mama and who is not. But that's just me.

I've seen too many friends go through this to think that!

@Mrs. Jacks: Yeah, that comment would annoy me. I am catholic but dealing with IF has definitely made me wonder about God's plan. Why is he making me wait? I still have faith that it will happen but at this time when I am childless, God is not on my good side right now. Though, sometimes I wonder if there's a reason why he's making me wait. Waiting for either for adoption or maybe had we had a child other serious complications would have happened. Maybe God is saving us from that heart ache. (I don't know, that's what I tell myself, at least.) My faith in God is still there... but it's definitely less than what it was a few years ago.

@Mrs. Jacks: I feel like God blessed us in his time even though I never got pregnant. I think some say "in his time" as interchangeable with "in his way". At least I do.

I agree, no one is more worthy than any other, but I also don't believe that's the way God works.

Lovely letter. One of the comments made me really sad though... A woman said, "god blessed us in his time..". Does that mean women who aren't able to ever get pregnant aren't blessed? That seems wrong to me.

Infertility is certainly trying, but I can't see that it is some sort of heavenly challenge with the worthy being blessed with a child. Sometimes bad stuff just happens.

I'm hoping to ignore Mother's day all together :) We'll be out of town, yay.

I knew that reading this at work would be a bad idea! I teared up a little, too.

I think this Mother's Day will be a little bit harder than I thought...

Mother's Day doesn't really bother me either, but this is still nice.

Side note: I'm going to have to pick up her book. I read the book by the couple who's baby she carried and it was really good.

I teared up reading this letter!

Love this.

ETA: Mother's day coming up hasn't really bothered me. Not yet, at least. I'm more concerned about getting all of my Mother's day cards out to my friends and family. I don't think it will bother me. Actually, I can see myself getting sad on Sunday when the flood of 'Happy Mother's day' statuses pop up on facebook. :/ Maybe I'll stay away from FB on Sunday.
