@Mrs.Someone: Totally! I always felt like getting pregnant required aligning the stars - which felt impossible.

@ineebee: I have to echo @raintreebee - My second round of Clomid also required me to be on Estrogen during my TWW because my lining was thin. So switching to injectibles felt right. It was a hard adjustment, and really pushed me to my limits mentally. The shots were easy once I got the hang of it, but it was a lot of monitoring and ordering meds and it was just challenging for me.

@raintreebee: I've been echoing you a lot today on HB :)

@ineebee: Doctors sometimes switch from Clomid to injectables if the Clomid is thinning the patient's lining. Also, it can be kind of a trial run for IVF. BUT injectables are much more of a pain in the arse. The injecting part isn't bad (at least for me), but they are much more expensive and require a lot more monitoring.

@sweetooth: Totally agree about the dose of magic!

@sweetooth: I totally feel the same way about the "magic"! Seems like there are too many "moving parts" for things to work out correctly and actually get pregnant.

@ineebee: For me, on Clomid, my follicles were maturing too quickly. And I think we kept missing the window due to the early maturation. With the injectibles we could monitor the follicles more closely, and time it just right. ( I still think there's just a dash of luck thrown in there too because I think getting pregnant involves some sort of magic - I don't know how anyone gets pregnant...it baffles me. )

I'm glad that you're having a good response and they don't see a need to change anything.

@sweetooth: You warm my heart. :) :) Thanks for your encouragement! My nurse didn't say that anything would be different for the third IUI. Same Clomid, same Ovidrel trigger, etc. For IUI #1 and #2, everything went as planned - follicles matured nicely, hormone levels were good... so I feel okay about going with the same protocol.

I'm curious though - What did they learn from your first two IUIs that made them change the protocol for the 3rd?

@ineebee: I'm sorry that your second IUI didn't result in a positive. I just wanted to pipe in and say that it was the 3rd IUI that was the charm for us. I hope it is for you too!

Does your doctor plan to change your protocol at all? Have they learned anything from your first two IUI cycles? My 3rd IUI was paired with injectible drugs. If you happen to take that route and have any questions I'm here. I'm also here if you need anything else. We're fellow Shady Grove buds :)

@shutterbug: Thanks, I'm posting everywhere today trying to get an idea of what I should expect! That's interesting. My doc says that for many of her patients, if all other tests look good, sorting out the thyroid can often be the "last piece of the puzzle" so to speak, but maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up so much. I only have slight hypothyroidism (I think my last test was 2.8) but no other diagnosis.

@mrs.halfsie: hi there. I responded to your other thread about the thyroid & spotting, but I also wanted to chime in here with what my endocrinologist said about my thyroid. Basically she said that it wasn't the thing that was stopping me from getting pregnant, and that the only reason they wanted to get my TSH down was because the miscarriage risk is higher if your TSH is over 2.5. That being said, my TSH was only 3.8 at its highest - I don't know if more severe hypothyroidism would affect fertility more.

I've been on Synthroid (Levothyroxine, actually) since December and other than lengthening my LP a couple days, it hasn't made much difference.

ETA: gosh, I didn't mean for that to sounds so negative! I hope that the thyroid is the only issue for you, and that the meds will help. I just know that for me, I was hoping that that was it, and I fully expected to get pregnant after my thyroid was in check, so I was upset when it didn't happen. Good luck to you!

What cycle are you on/how long have you been TTC? Since March 2012.

What are your plans for this cycle? Towards the end of my tww. AF is supposed to come Sunday.

How is your attitude/outlook? I've been busy all of last week for my sister's wedding, so I haven't given much thought to it. This is my first cycle on thyroid medication, so I am hopeful, but since I was out of town we were only able to dtd up until 1-2 days before O. So I think it's going to be a crapshoot ;)

What have you struggled with most this week? Wondering if we'll ever find out what's really wrong. Wondering if it's my thyroid and we've finally solved the mystery, or if I'm putting too much faith in this medication.

What is your diagnosis? Gluten intolerance, hypothyroidism.

How do you cope with Mother's Day? I'll probably just hide away and watch T.V. That's if my husband won't give me too hard of a time if I decide to skip church ;)

I have a couple questions for you ladies:

Any of you fellow hypothyroid-ers suffer from spotting 5-7 days before AF? Did that ever stop when on meds?

Also, I have to option this month to do an HSG. This will be my first month on the meds, and I won't know if the meds are the correct dosage/if they're working until after the HSG. I know that an HSG can increase your chances the cycle right after, so I guess my question is should I wait until I'm sure the medicine is working, or go ahead with the HSG in case one of my tubes is blocked or something?

Thanks ladies!
