@Mrs.Someone: Great news on SA!

@spaniellove: Thanks for checking on me. Feeling okay, I guess. Starting to get a little hormonal and headachey. On day 4 of stims and for some reason I am bruising a lot this time around too. I am leaning against PGD unless we have like 5 embryos to choose from (which would be a miracle). Also stressing that embryo transfer is going to land on some important meetings at school, and I may need to start telling some colleagues I am undergoing medical treatments so that people don't think I am shirking. Ugh. Does anyone ever think they need to take a leave of absence to deal with all of these treatments? Wishful thinking, I know.

@spaniellove: Motility is 45% (normal >40%). And morphology is 4%. (normal is <4% abnormal?) He was given some antioxidants to help with forward progression, but it doesn't sound like its a big deal.

I was given an tincture for general fertility that tastes pretty vile. Who cares though, if it works!

@Mrs.Someone: That sounds like a good count! What was the motility number? We learned (the hard way) there's always a chance things that look like an issue may be a fluke or lab/testing error.

I just got my DH's SA results. They really are quite good, 54 million sperm/ml, wow. Forward progression is the only thing that is a little off, but with that many, I doubt it will be a problem! Hoping our wait is over soon...

I just had my appointment with my ND. Turns out everything from me is now looking good, and she didn't get the SA results so she really wants to see what those say (she'll email me tonight when she gets them). Otherwise, shes giving me some general herbs for fertility that I'll pick up next week. So unless the SA has a clear issue, it looks like it was either a blocked tube or the dreaded "unexplained". We'll see!

Hello all,
Chiming in to say that I just read through this thread:

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/what-do-you-miss-most-about-your-pre-kid-days

and it made me feel excited to go home and see my hubby and be able to spend a fun, childless weekend with him! I know that none of these things probably compare to having a child, but it's nice to know that there are some perks to having a little extra one-on-one time with our partners.

@spaniellove: Yes, I think he was very thorough yesterday (although he doesn't believe in the immunology/NKA stuff, and I tend to agree with him). Other factors he mentioned might be a non-ideal transfer with the first embryo (uterus spasming, blood on catheter) and that we had really bad luck in the FET in that basically one of our embryos didn't re-expand upon thaw (he says he never sees this and isn't sure if it is the fault of the lab or the embryo). So I guess it is possible this was just a flukey series of events rather than indication that our embryos are abnormal. I talked to another one of the doctors today, and he too was very surprised our cycle failed given all of the positive indications so maybe there is something going on genetically (although this would be rare given my "young" age of 35). One piece of comfort--my doctor said that someone with a cycle that produced three grade a embryos WILL get pregnant.

@raintreebee: Once upon a time we briefly considered PGD, but gave up when no one could find anything specific or compelling to test the embryos for. Do you feel like your doctor has discussed every possible reason the IVF might not be working?

@Mrs.Someone: You shouldn't feel bad about not having success on the HSG cycle. I think it is probably pretty rare for an issue to be resolved by the procedure.

@TheReelDeal: Yay for circle + bloom! I am going to try to use them every day this cycle.

@math.nerd: Welcome! Don't freak out about the costs yet. I think a lot of fertility problems can be resolved without expensive procedures.

@Leialou: Good news on the cash, but here is to hoping you get to spend it on nursury furniture, etc!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I am so, so sorry about your loss. I am glad your doctor isn't making your wait to do the RPL testing although chances are you just had incredibly bad, heartbreaking luck. During the bleeding, did your doctor do blood tests to see if it was a period or not? Btw, my DH's morph has fluctuated between 5-10% and the doctor never seemed worried. In fact, our fertilization rate during IVF was incredibly high (80%) (I think his other good numbers compensated for it).

@TheSwissWifeStyle: @spaniellove: So frustrated for you guys--having to wait for the HCG to dissipate has been annoying for me and it has only taken a week. I feel for you.

@PastaAndPotato: Thinking good thoughts for your upcoming FET. I think physically the cycle will be a cinch for you, although the TWW is certainly not any easier! I love lilacs too--mine should be blooming soon!

@Mrs. Polish: I am hoping you have a smooth transition from your job, and that you adjust quickly to your new life!

@ineebee: I am sorry you are feeling discouraged. Try to remember that IUIs just have a fairly low success rate (I was always quoted around 10% generally, lower for me personally). So just because you haven't had success yet doesn't mean you won't even without IVF! Just may take a little longer (which stinks).

@spaniellove: We would be doing the 24 chromosome test offered by RMA Genetics (in NJ) that is done on day 5 blasts. My doctor wasn't pushing it on us, but we are considering it. He was surprised that none of our three "gorgeous" embryos stuck (although we did lose one in the freeze essentially), and suggested that we might have a higher percentage of chromosomally abnormal embryos than normal. It is actually a very difficult decision. If we get just two nice ones, I don't really see the point of the PGD since we would just stick them both in, although I suppose there is a diagnostic benefit. If we get say three or four, then maybe there is a case for it, although really it would only probably save us the annoyance of doing an unnecessary transfer. The big benefit is that it drastically reduces the miscarriage rate, however, we just aren't sure that is worth the risk of undergoing a very, very new procedure on the embryo ,the long-term effects of which are not known. Ugh. I kinda detest all of these decisions and am envious of all the fertiles who don't have to make them! Do you know anything about it? Btw, I did the RPL testing (even though I've only had one loss now) and DH and I did further genetic testing today. Took eleven vials of blood from me!!!

Sorry for such a long post!!!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I've seen different ranges online (and you probably have too), but I'd guess you're at a point now where you could go ahead and ovulate! Do you have any signs of O? And also...why does it take so long for the HCG to go away when you don't want it? The stupid shadow line on my Wondfos won't go away so I know I must be between 5 and 30 or so.

What cycle are you on/how long have you been TTC? Since December 2011
What are your plans for this cycle? IVF #2. This follows IVF #1 that resulted in a BFN and a FET (frozen embryo transfer) that resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Had a followup conversation with my doctor today, which was incredibly thorough. I am definitely in good hands. DH and I are undergoing more testing and are investigating genetic testing of the embryos for the next IVF. Decided to move on quickly because I'd like to take advantage of my academic calendar and get away from the city this summer and the clinic doesn't do IVFs in June anyway.
How is your attitude/outlook? Positive. This takes effort and doesn't come naturally for me, but I am trying to see the chemical pregnancy as a positive sign along with the fact that I responded fairly well in the first cycle. I am also trying to do yoga/meditation and not put myself in stressful situations at work or socially. :)
What have you struggled with most this week? Getting the call on Monday that we were losing my first ever pregnancy was horrible. Luckily, DH came immediately home, and we consoled each other.
What is your diagnosis? Endometriosis
What is your favorite thing about Spring? School's out (although I still have to conduct research)! Playing outside! Eating al fresco!

Back to grading exams...I will catch up on everyone a little later.

What cycle are you on/how long have you been TTC? We just hit the year-and-a-half mark. Yay.
What are your plans for this cycle? IUI #3 with Clomid and Ovidrel trigger. IUI will probably be May 24-25ish.
How is your attitude/outlook? Pretty pessimistic. I just can't imagine becoming pregnant anymore... It seems out of reach.
What have you struggled with most this week? See above. Also on my mind is what we're going to do if this cycle doesn't work. We're moving from the DC area to Providence at the end of June, so this cycle is the last full cycle we'll have here. More importantly, DH is not sure about IVF. I was anxious to get through all of the unsuccessful IUIs so that we could try IVF, but DH has some understandable hesitations about IVF, so I don't know if we have a plan B...

@sweetooth @raintreebee @mrs. someone: (This is from last week's thread) Thanks for the info about why people transition from Clomid to injectibles. So far my lining hasn't been affected, and ovulation has happened mostly as expected (though on the late side - CD19 and then CD17). Thanks for sharing your experience on this - I definitely wouldn't have known about the possibility of injectibles for IUI if it weren't for you ladies!

@JUST_JU: yes, it's the Circle + Bloom for PCOS. I was hesitant to buy it too, but during Infertility Awareness Week they were having a 35% off special and couldn't pass that up. I'll definitely let you know if it works.

@PastaAndPotato: I'm already done. I'm not going back once my FMLA runs out. It really is just bittersweet. I know I made the right decision though.
