@TheSwissWifeStyle: Yup, I'm looking forward to eating avocados daily! If I could have avocado shakes daily, I'd probably end up with a food/drink coma! Oh, and I'd be interested in helping you out regarding IF experiences.

@alohaorchid: Chocolate milk sounds delicious! I used to drink chocolate soy milk daily, but then stopped after the first year of TTC after reading how it may impact fertility. I hope your TWW is going smoothly…do you think you'll test or just wait till AF is overdue?

@FliegepilzHut: Thanks! RE said I can start my next cycle on meds especially since I'm already seeing my acupuncturist and increasing my daily caloric intake. DH said he needed to get me fat so after dinner we went to a dessert place for some eggettes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggette). I'm still secretly (well not so secret now) that I am able to get pregnant while I've been on this break. I'm glad to read that you are feeling better after this weekend (what you had posted in another thread). When do you get the results for testing of the fetal tissue?

@PurplePumps: Good luck with the stims! :goodluck:

@Leialou: What type of weight training do you do? I had been interested in this, but then I got too lazy (hence my username). I used to do weights when I was more active in high school, college, grad school, and the first few years post grad school, but then my periods were all over the place. I was also engaging in more "extreme" sports like snowboarding and white water rafting but stopped doing that once we started TTC.

@CupQuakeWalk: RE said that they would have me do high dose Letrozole for the first 10 days, then have me go in for CD 13 u/s to check on the follicle size, if they aren't big enough it may be continuing letrozole and EOD u/s to monitor the progress. Since I don't know if I'll respond to it, and having to take EOD off of work to be monitored, I opted to go with the clomid/IUI cycles again because we know I respond to that like clockwork and would only be taking 2 days off (cd13 for follicle check and trigger shot day, then cd15 IUI). I hope letrozole works for you though! :goodluck:

@LindsayInNY: Seriously, I am more than happy to take on the pounds, but it just doesn't work for me. Instead of gaining the freshman 15, I gained the freshman 25 in the first quarter of college (of course I started college as a 5'4", 95 lb toothpick :silly: ). The weight didn't stay on for that long cuz I'm not a really big drinker and was still pretty active in college (running, but on the treadmill or track). I think I'll start tracking how many lbs I gain on a weekly basis due to DH trying to "fatten" me up.

Since I can't access HB from work, and only from my phone, if anyone wants to start tomorrow's thread, please feel free to do so! Otherwise, if I don't see anything up at lunch (PST, between 3-4 pm EST), then I'll create the thread. :silly:

@LindsayInNY: I don't have a diagnosis. They know my thyroid is elevated (on meds for that), they know I am insulin resistant (meds for that), they also know that I have a very slightly misshapen uterus, but we're not doing anything about it because I have had a successful pregnancy and live birth before, so obviously it is inhabitable. He told me I do have PCOS but he said it is so mild (I am healthy weight, no excessive hair growth, no high prolactin levels..) that he doesn't think it is solely responsible for my IF. As far as it being my first IUI, it is. We had one scheduled for last cycle, but me and DH were at our wits' end and reallly reallly needed a break, so we went overseas for a couple weeks. I took my thyroid meds and metformin, but nothing else in terms of fertility.

@lazypanda: What cycle days does he recommend you take your high dose of Lez? I was told that if I don't respond to my current (low dose) that we would do a higher dose for the 1st 7 days of my cycle and then back to my low dose for the rest of cycle.
Also, as far as the icecream being cold goes...could you do like, a really fattening pot pie? Or mac n cheese?

@Leialou: I had to gain some weight about 10 years ago and I saw a nutritionist. They recommended two glasses of chocolate milk every day in addition to a high calorie diet. Depending on the amount of weight that needs to be gained, sometimes the high fat, high calorie food is just the easiest way to go about it.

@lazypanda: the avocado and stuff sound like a good idea. Maybe even a nutritional drink like boost to supplement? I dunno, I'm always trying to lose weight, so...! lol

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I'm putting together a very informal survey for my blog about what it's like dealing with IF, and how it might affect you in different parts of the world. If anyone would like to participate, please wall me :)

@Leialou: I think it's because I'm relatively healthy (but skinny) already so he said having additional scoops of ice cream in my diet should give me the additional calories & lbs. I checked my email as he had provided a lot of info for me to digest yesterday. & thankfully he had written the information out as I had asked. He had also suggested that I look at healthier ways of adding to my diet & referred me to a nutritionist. But basically I need to gain 5-10 lbs.

I had my WTF/IVF consult today & I'm feeling a little hopeful. RE thinks I have a really great chance with IUI as I did respond on the first try. He also told me to gain weight because my BMI is too low. He said the easiest thing would be to eat extra scoops of ice cream. He also gave us the option of trying Letrozole again, but this time the highest dose for 10 days rather than 5. DH & I decided that we'll continue with the IUI, stay with acupuncture so we will feel good that we've tried all we could. I ran this info by my acupuncturist & she actually said ice cream is not good for those trying to conceive as the womb needs to be nice and warm so it's inviting for implantation. She said I should eat natural fats like an avocado a day, nuts, coconut oil, and organic butter. She also recommended another vitamin supplement as well as supplements for DH. So it looks like I'll be on the IUI boat for 4 more cycles unless DH's Kruger testing indicates we would have to go straight to IVF.

@lazypanda: No AF yet so that's helping... As long as AF holds off until at least tomorrow, we should clear Labor Day weekend and possibly save us the costs of one day of monitoring!

@CupQuakeWalk: I did ask at one of my monitoring appointments this past cycle about what happens when/if I naturally surge on my own. I didn't really get a direct answer though... Whenever I go in on CD3 this cycle, I want to ask again and see if something else can be added treatment-wise to approach things as aggressively as possible. I try to ask at the monitoring u/s how things look but don't get specific responses. Sometimes they'll mention follicle sizes but not how my lining or anything looks. I would rather more meds and whatnot at this point... Remind me again, will this be your first IUI and do you have a diagnosis?

@LindsayInNY: the reason I ask is because when we had our IUI planning meeting, he told us we would be Clomid 1-5 and injectible from 6-8. Then we would get a BUNCH of follicles and we would wait to see which stayed around until CD14 (at which point we would trigger if necessary). And all the while, he has me on Estrodial (sp?) to thicken my lining. So, I just wanted to see how our schedules compared. It seems like a ton of meds, but I just roll with the punches now. Waiting to start that iui in a few days (I think AF is due Thursday but, I didn't track this month so who knows...)

@LindsayInNY: I'm sorry. I do hope timing works out for you so that the next cycle falls in line with your schedule & doesn't ruin plans you've already made. Wallow as much as you need. It's a difficult situation to be in & I'm glad you were able to let it out during your spin class.

I guess when I came up with the question regarding what you would re-do, it was to see what people wish they had done sooner or later as hindsight is 20/20. For me, right now, I feel like I'm stuck in limbo. Part of me wants to have that take home baby sooner, since we've waited for so long (though I know my journey is shorter than others). It's sad when I see friends' babies who are getting ready to celebrate their first birthdays. It's a very sobering & sad reminder of our struggles to conceive. I guess my question for myself is what is the best next step for me. Will I regret having tried 4 more IUIs or will I be happy that diving into IVF may give me my take home baby. And the bigger thing, am I strong enough to go through all the meds & appointments (for both IUI & IVF). :meh:

@CupQuakeWalk: I hate being pessimistic because I feel like it's never a good mentality to have during TTC but still... I like/need to wallow in my sorrows for a couple days (on and off) before picking myself up and moving on. I do want to ask my RE about changes for next cycle/IUI, if possible... This is the second time I've taken Clomid CD4-9 (no IUI the first time) and naturally started to surge on my own on CD15. I have Ovidrel (trigger shot) at home but have never gotten/needed to use it. I want to ask about that for next IUI though, in case it makes a difference? I didn't OPK this time but IUI was CD16 which is likely when I Oed (confirmed by OPK last Clomid cycle). If that plays out this cycle, there's a good chance Labor Day weekend could mess things up. I'm praying AF waits a day or two before starting...

@sweetooth: Thank you :) I bought gummy bears this morning to make myself feel better, LOL!

If I had to redo anything, of course I'd just start trying earlier. Maybe not waited that 15 months after getting married to start. But we waited for a reason (DH wasn't quite ready, and we had amazing trips planned) so I can't exactly say I regret it either. I like to think that given the same information I had at the time, I'd make the same decisions because that was what was the best decision, so ultimately, we can't say could/should/would have.

IF updates, I'll be starting stims this weekend or early next week. Need to call the doc to get a schedule nailed down.

@leialou: That’s exciting that you’re starting to really move into embryo adoption now!

@lazypanda: GL today!

@fliegepilzhut: I’m glad you’re feeling ok after your D&C, but I’m sorry you have to go through this *hugs*

@travelgirl1: I hope you see that :) soon!

@babycanuck: GL with finding a surgeon to go forward with the surgery, I hope it doesn’t take too long

@ameliabedilia: Sorry to hear that AF showed up  Your doctor sounds a lot like mine, he knows my resistance to the fertility clinic so he’s basically doing as much as he can for me through his clinic, which really just stops at actual fertility treatments. If I was in your situation I would probably go with #1. It doesn’t hurt to see if it will hurt and if not, the next 3 months will go by fast. GL with whatever you decide

@theswisswifestyle: *hugs* I’m sorry! Those days are the worst. I hope you’re feeling at least a little bit better now. It does sound like you have an exciting year ahead of you, which is an awesome thing to focus on!

@lindsayinny: So sorry that this IUI didn’t work

@sweetooth: GL with your sonogram tomorrow

I'm not sure if I would do anything different. I would probably have gone for tests sooner so that I know what we are up against but for right now, I'm ok with where we are at with IF.

AFM, I'm coming to the end of my TWW... it's been a weird one! I have had horrible heartburn, which I NEVER get, mixed with a whole bunch of weird symptoms. I'm pretty sure it's all related to the chemical last month and I can say I can't wait for my period to get here so that my body can "reset" itself.

I don't know what I would redo...I remember bringing up trying to conceive earlier than we started, and my husband wanted to wait. So maybe if I could have convinced him, I wish we had started sooner and then found out that we would need to go to the RE sooner. That seems to be a theme for a lot of us...getting in to the RE sooner. So for anyone who is just reading along with this thread - make the call. Get an appointment. Start the process sooner.

I have my saline sonogram tomorrow - hopefully that goes well and then I also hope I can knock this terrible cough that I have before I start the IUI process again next month.

@Leialou: Looks like you have a busy week ahead. I'm so glad you're able to jump right in to the process! Good luck with the next steps. :goodluck:

@lazypanda: Good luck with your consult today! And thanks for posting the list and starting the thread :)

@FliegepilzHut: I hope your recovery is going well and that you had a good, restful weekend.

@travelgirl1: I hope that you get your  soon, and that everything works out for the best with your living situation and insurance. I know it must be stressful - but hopefully your little girl is a good distraction

@babycanuck: I hope you are able to get in for your surgery soon and that you and your husband can conceive on your own after that

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm surprised that an HSG is so far down your list. I only say that because it was a part of the regular IF testing before any treatment could begin for me. Even Clomid. The HSG is what revealed that I may have a fibroid or blockage in my uterus and without that knowledge, starting any treatment may have been a waste of time because it could have been what was preventing my success with pregnancy. // If I was starting a new job, I'd probably take a month off just to get settled in and not be worrying about the TTC roller coaster.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I'll keep my ears open - is Finance what you do? Or is that your husband's line of work?

@LindsayInNY: I commented on the other thread...but I am sorry you're going through this. I know it is just...depressing. It's kind of sick, but I'm glad to hear you say you're pessimistic, only because I am too at this point. Sometimes misery likes company? Especially when not many people can understand.
Can I ask-
what was your iui schedule like? When was O day and wend you start injectables?

I am feeling VERY crappy this week. We basically had no intervention this cycle (except meds) because we were on vacation during the IUI. I needed the trip though, and we did have lots of sex, but still. Regular sex hasn't worked for us before, so I'm not hopeful at all. I'm wishing this cycle away and feeling sh**ty.

First IUI was a fail. Just waiting for AF now and hoping it takes another day or two to arrive so next IUI doesn't conflict with Labor Day weekend. Feeling super pessimistic and "over it" lately... Lately meaning the last 24 hours but still. I need to get out of this funk...

If there was anything I'd redo... I think I would've gone for IF testing right at the year mark instead of a couple months after. It would've moved things up only two months or so but still. I think I was pretty proactive with all the genetic testing being the biggest hurdle we've faced.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Your feelings are so real, raw and relatable! Big internet hugs to you. It is SO hard not to let infertility and the whole TTC thing take over life. How can it not, you know? You live in 2 week increments and cycle through such high and low emotions. It is HARD. I hope that your time away, and all of the traveling will help you feel rejuvenated. I know this is a crazy question, but is there any chance you can move back to the US? (not that it's the answer at all...just curious...don't answer if you don't want to)

@TheSwissWifeStyle: No need to apologize. All of us have been there and you have been such a great support when I felt that way! I'm excited for your tattoo appointment and looking forward to seeing the finished product.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm sorry about AF's arrival. Would you NTNP? I hope the break will help you feel rejuvenated for your next step.

@CupQuakeWalk: I hope you are doing well and that things are going well for your IUI cycle! :good luck:

ETA: I think I ovulated twice this cycle! I had several days of positive OPKs and in the middle of those positive OPKs, there were a few days where the line wasn't quite as dark.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: bug hugs!

AF started yesterday. We're now on cycle 18. I started getting migraines 2 days after acupuncture, which is why I stopped it last fall. I figured I would try again with a different acupuncturist. I know she has made some progress, but I'm trying to remember that even if everything is "fixed," it can still take a few cycles. That is one of the hard things! DH and I still need to talk about what we will do for this month. I keep thinking that NTNP would be helpful, but I can't seem to do it. I know when I usually O, and I get so disappointed regardless. I am considering telling myself that I can't get pregnant without some medication help, and that this month, we're truly taking a month off. This might be good since I am starting a new job and have some stressful stuff coming up in the next month.
