I'll apologize in advance for the novel that follows. I needed to tell someone about all this (DH doesn't even know the specifics of the MD items below.)</p> <p>Sunday was rough for a variety of reasons. My husband's small business suffered a huge loss with a fire on Friday night. We didn't get any sleep. I worked all day Saturday to communicate to his customers about contingency plans. </p> <p>I was exhausted but felt I needed to keep my MD plans which was to go with my mom &amp; siblings see my 88 year old grandmother who lives out of town. I only see her a few times each year. </p> <p>I am sure I am overly sensitive but my mom chose to ride squished in the back seat of a car between two car seats so that she could spend time with my niece and nephew. She sees them at least one whole day a week but only sees me for a few hours every few weeks. When telling me she was going to ride with them instead of in the empty back seat of my car she said "there's something (grandkids) here that you don't have in your car." I know she just wanted to spend time with her grandkids but the way she said it really hurt. Thanks for the reminder that I don't have kids mom!</p> <p>So later in church the minister prays for "mothers...... and those who have struggled to be mothers this year and want that more than anything else..." Yeah, I lost it. I cried pretty quietly throughout the prayer but then had to leave and go to the restroom to compose myself. Finally as we were leaving, my sister, who knows all our struggles was hugging everyone goodbye and wishing them a Happy Mother's Day, she comes to me and just automatically says the same thing, realizes her mistake and says "Happy Aunts Day". </p> <p>I know that neither my mom or sister meant to hurt my feelings but it was a tough day, particularly given my exhaustion. It is my deepest wish that each of us are mothers, pregnant, or paper pregnant (adoption process) by next Mother's Day! Though for lunch we were at a restaurant that was pretty empty and I got caught off guard by the waiter giving me a carnation :( I was pretty close to tears there, and DH had to hide it. Then later a lady said it was OK to have ice cream because its mother's day and "you deserve it". Blah.</p> <p>And I also got a nice message from a friend who knows about our struggles. My sister-in-law announced that she is pregnant. While I am so happy for them, it was really hard on me. They weren't even trying and here I am 17 months in my IF journey. For the first time in 17 months, I threw myself a huge pity party, and it's not over yet. Still today, I am on the verge of tears.</p> <p>On top of that, my grandma started having chest pains and ended up in the hospital. So while my DH's family was over at our house celebrating Mother's day with his mother and his sister-in-law (who is a brand new mom), I got to sit in the ER waiting room.
