You know... I gained 16lbs during pregnancy (I was chunky to begin with - and gained 50 while TTC with various fertility crap) and now 5 weeks pp, I've lost the 16, plus an additional 7lbs. And I'm STILL in my maternity pants, and when I went shopping for something to wear to an event, was 3 sizes larger than I was pre-pregnancy. Brutal.

I kind of assume my body will never look like it did pre-TTC. This is like... structural damage.

Ya I think its really "9 months on, 18+ months off@. Just doesn't haven't as a ring to it. I'm almost 10'months pp and just today I reached my halfway point in how much weight I want to lose.

I'm also 6 months pp and all the extra weight is right around the mid-section. So frustrating. I finally bought a couple new pants because I was sick of looking frumpy all the time. So no advice but just commiseration...

Ugh this is still a struggle. I am also 6months pp and have not lost a single pound since the 20 lbs of actual baby weight that were gone the first week. I am so frustrated, because I am more active and so much more careful about what I eat, and am breastfeeding too...what gives??

I still have 12lbs til pre-pregnancy at 8 months pp.
I'm slowly losing weight without exercise because I cut out carbs (I have cheat days though). Most pre-pregnancy bottoms and some tops fit..
Body shape has definitely changed though!

@Mrs. Blue: I also had twins and gained about 40lbs. I am 7.5 months post partum and am not at pre-pregnancy weight. I have about 8 pounds to go but I'm highly skeptical that even when I get to my pre-pregnancy weight that my old clothes will fit the same. Like @Smurfette: I feel like the weight has just shifted to other areas. I think my hips are wider as well as my back/rib cage. I'm hoping to look and feel close to my pre-pregnancy body before the holidays! I'm trying to eat cleaner all week long (and not just during the week just to undo it on the weekend) and commit to exercising at least three times a week.

I am at prepregnancy weight but nothing fits. Everything shifted and my thighs, hips, and tummy have it all. It is so depressing. I never thought at 6 months pp I would still be wearing maternity pants cause my regular ones are so tight. I need to just suck it up and buy some pants in a bigger size:(

@DillonLion: @aprk: Thanks for sympathizing, ladies! It's great that so many women seem to bounce back quickly, but it can get a little discouraging to hear that everything will look different by 6 mo pp when I'm right there and don't look different than I did at 2 months!

@Navy_Mommy: I could see that being helpful; as sad as it is to admit this, I'm far more concerned about what goes into their bodies than my own. We are about to start with purees for a month since LOs were preemies, but then I'd like to move to BLW. Hopefully, that will help us all to be healthier eaters.

@Mrs. Blue: not a lame excuse, it's hard!

It got easier for me to prioritize clean eating once DS started eating solids (we did BLW) since I didn't want him eating processed food.

@Navy_Mommy: Maybe I need to go super clean like this. I know this just sounds flat out lazy, but it's just so much work to meal plan for a super healthy diet, and I feel like I'm already failing at doing a good job as a mom, employee, etc. Lame excuse, I know.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: That's encouraging that you're below PP weight now! I didn't have a "bikini body" before pregnancy, so I have no issues with not getting to that point. I just want to see progress!

It was hard, but I WAS able to bounce back completely.

Until 6 months PP it felt like it didn't matter how many pounds I lost I still looked pregnant, then my belly FINALLY began to shrink.

I had to eat SUPER clean - absolutely no refined carbs, lots of fruits and veggies, lots of lean protein. I breastfed so I didn't focus so much on how much I was eating, instead what I was eating.

Running has never helped me lose weight, I have to do more dynamic exercise. My favorite was TurboFire (HIIT kickboxing DVDs).

Great question. I am just about where you are, and ain't no way I'm fitting back into my "regular" clothes any time soon. My behind is also ginormous!

I was overweight to begin with and gained a fair amount of weight with Chloe. I hit my PP weight a little over the one year mark, and am now under my PP weight -- but have quite a ways to go before I reach a healthier weight, and until I'm pleased with my body.

I had a singleton and my tummy is still flabby. I wasn't toned to begin with so I fear this is just my body shape now. With the weight loss, my skin is looser. It's kind of gross and even if I ever hit my goal weight, I won't have a bikini body.

So, what did the trick? I stopped obsessing about the scale. I know that's really lousy advice! I wear my fitbit religiously, eat smarter portions, only eat whole wheats, and drink tons of water. I added yoga into my routine a few months ago and feel tons better.

How long did it take for you to lose all the baby weight/not have a super flabby tummy? What did you finally do to lose the weight/tone up or was it just time?

I gained about 45 pounds with my twins, which my OB was super pleased with. I lost 25 lbs in the first 3-4 weeks. I lost a few more in the month or so after, but I've stalled out at somewhere between 15-20 pounds over my pre-preg weight and my tummy still looks at least 6 months pregnant. With twins, I know it got extra stretched out, but I'm still having to wear maternity pants/skirts or else buy clothes way, way to big for my legs & hips to get them to fit at the waist. I'm just getting frustrated that at 6 months PP, I still look 6 months pregnant. I totally buy into the 9 months on-9 months off thing, but I feel like I'm going in the wrong direction.

I jog on our treadmill when I can after the boys go to sleep, and I know I could do better about eating healthy. I'm just curious to hear from those who didn't drop the weight right away or had a bigger tummy, did you ever get there? What did the trick? When did you start feeling more like yourself again?
