@Mrsbells: He's a few months into 2 yrs. Yeah, the reason is that he's being picky. Lol... I'm just curious as to what others do. What I normally do is give him a regular portion of his normal snack plus a little more if he asks, but if he asks again for more food, I'll offer something really boring like a slice of bread. Usually he'll decline and wait for dinner.

DD can have as many fruits and veggies as she wants as snack, but only a regular portion of whatever else I might give. She is almost 3 so she is starting to understand that not eating= belly is hungry. I don't feel that she is deprived if I don't give her extra goldfish when she refuses her lunch.

Depends what it is. If her snack is plain yogurt, yeah she can have a bunch. If it's goldfish or sweetened yogurt or something less healthy, I'll still only give her a normal portion. Also depends what dinner is. If she wants to eat a lot of fruit before I give her Mac and cheese for dinner, that's fine, but if snack is less healthy and dinner is more healthy, I limit and will do dinner a little early if necessary.

So in short it depends.

I set her plate on the counter and give it to her when she asks for food later. She is 2.5.

@BabyTsMom: Is there a reason he ate poorly at one meal? and how old is he?

I dont give my LO extra snacks because then she will just always eat poorly and expect more snacks but she is 4 years old though which is probably much older than your LO

Do you offer unlimited snacks at the next snack time (if you give snacks)? So, like if my LO hardly touches lunch, and it's time for his usual mid-afternoon snack of yogurt or whatever, should I let him eat as much yogurt as he wants? Or should I limit him so that he'll eat at dinner?
If I limit his snack, I am probably in for a lot of tears and fun times. But it's what I'm inclined to do.... What would you do?
