At that age if she weren't fussy, 15 minutes or so to see if she would go back down. Sometimes longer if I wanted to get something done as we followed EASY and getting her up meant BFing for 20-40 minutes!!

@MenagerieMama: she'll get better at it! and i think it's okay at this age to use a wrap nap or cosleeping here and there (or heavily) if that's what baby and mama need! i think i overstressed about teaching my LO "good" sleeping habits and it ended up in a lot of torture for me.

@edelweiss: thanks! Yeah I think linking sleep cycles is her major challenge right now. I wish there was a way to help her! So far only wrap naps or cosleeping does which are not what I want her long term solution to be!

my LO had a really tough time linking sleep cycles together during naps at that age. i wonder if the same thing is going on with your LO. i usually tried to get him to finish 2 sleep cycles (even if interrupted). once in a while i did 3 if he wasn't fussing much, but with the fussing intervals, he would be in the crib for almost 3 hours and that seemed like too much for us.

as to how long i waited to go in or wait for the next sleep cycle to start--usually 15-20 minutes.

LO is almost 10 weeks old (eek!) and I'm trying to transition her from taking all her naps in the Moby wrap, to her crib. She sleeps in the PnP at night fine (well, if waking up every 1-3 hrs is fine!) and she's getting a little too interested in the world to sleep well in the Moby without waking up all the time. Although I'm able to settle her much more easily when I'm wearing her (sometimes she'll nap 2-2.5 hrs being worn). But I think ultimately she'll get much better rest in the crib.

So recently she has been waking up way too early in the crib (I hold her to fall asleep, transfer after 20 min, and then she's in the crib for 10-20 min before waking). But after about a minute of crying/fussing she then just hangs out happily for a while. Once she's fallen asleep again, but usually she starts the brief fuss, and then hanging out cycle.

When do I call it quits for the nap and start her EASY routine over? Or do I just let her be in the crib until she is definitively cranky? And why don't babies come with instruction manuals to figure this out more easily?!
