When my LO first went to one nap she went down around noon and it stayed like that for several months. Then around 22 months I kept pushing it back bc she wouldn't go down and just played in her crib. So now at 26 months she wakes up between 7:30/8:00 and naps around 2:30/3:00 and I get her up after 2 hours and bedtime is 8:00 (if she doesn't sleep I leave her in bed for quiet time and her bedtime is moved up to 7:00)

@scg00387: Ah, that's great that he figured it out on his own! With A not being sleep trained she has never really been able to figure sleep out on her own so I'm at a loss on how to move forward with it all really. We have to wean by mid February so I think something will have to change with her sleep at that point...

I gotta admit, I'm the luckiest parent ever. My son wakes around 8:30, then goes down for a nap any time between 12:30 and 2:00 and sleeps for 2 to 3 hours generally. Dropping the morning nap has been great for us! I missed that long nap so much and I can be a lot more productive now!

@travelgirl1: just my 2 cents, my LO could NOT make it later in the morning at first (but still wouldn't take a second nap). for a few weeks, he took one nap, at 11 AM and then went to bed crazy early. It stunk! He slowly pushed it back on his own until it was at a more normal time. We've shuffled nursing/snacks/lunch around so he was always eating right before nap.

It is turning out now as we have gotten the hang of one nap to be a small lunch before, and then a heavy snack after. Maybe framing it that way would help?

At night he sleeps from 8:30pm-8am, naps from 1:30-3, but we try to keep him napping until 3:30-4. He'll often wake at 2-2:30 and we go in there and lay him back down and he'll often go back to sleep. This transition was only about a month ago.

This was such a hard transition for us, and really forced on her in the Fall when she went to daycare! Even over Christmas when we had her home for 2w if she seemed like she needed a 2 nap day, she got it, but since has been pretty solid on the 1!

Up for the day 7am
Nap 12/12:30 at daycare, more like 1pm at home.
2:30 wake
7:30pm bedtime

@travelgirl1: I went to a toddler sleep seminar, and got a great rule of thumb. For one nap, try putting baby down 5 hours after they wake, and then 5 hours after the wake from nap, put them to bed. Eventually they adjust and figure out how to stretch the nap from there.

My son is up at 6:30-7ish, then naps around 11:30-noon for 2-3 hours.

Thanks, guys! Seems like 1ish is a good time for a nap, then?

@Mrs. Yoyo: It sounds like one nap isn't as bad as I imagine : ) I look after another little girl four days a week though, who is a superstar napper! But she's not down to one nap yet so it's looking like my LO will nap inbetween her naps and the whole day from 10am to 4pm (apart from lunch) will be taken up with naps. I'm going to try convince my LO that two naps are the way to go for a bit longer but, alas, I don't think she'll buy it :silly:

He was trying to sleep in until 9am for a bit, but that was killing bedtime, so I stopped that.

I also love the one time a day naps, kind of dreading going back to multiple naps a day with #2. Hopefully we can just adapt him to napping wherever like we did with #1!
