@blackbird: haha. My mom asks the same question. umm I don't know...maybe when he was licking the grocery store cart handles? Story time at the library? Little old ladies at church touching him?

The kiddos got a mild case of HFM the other week. But thank goodness they aren't in daycare, haha!

Yea, why are moms like that? My mom is discouraging in her own ways, and gets upset when I told her so.

Well now that's a pleasant thing to hear constantly. I'd say it's FAR more likely LO1 got LO2 sick! Come on, toddlers touch everything! But judgement is always uncool. Every time E has something (this week was impetigo), my mom says, "and how did she get THAT" very pointedly. Like thanks, NOT DAYCARE, ACTUALLY. Germs happens. i wish people weren't such twats about it.

@wonderstruck: YES YES YES to the glossing over of things. Apparently my brother and I were perfect, super quiet, delicate angels, especially at restaurants. Giving myself a migraine rolling my eyes here.

@JennyD: This is my grandma. Constantly says stuff about how she is so glad that L doesn't cry as much anymore because in her words, "When he was little I really worried about him, I've never heard a baby cry so much in my life!" Uhhh you had four kids grandma, and he really only ever cried when he was hungry or tired. So I very much doubt the truth in that statement. I think it's just a side effect of glossing over the hard parts as time passes.

That is incredibly annoying OP, the daycare comments would really get on my nerves!

Oh nice. That's awesome.

When my LO was real small, my mom was about that helpful. any time I ever asked her what she did for us kids, she would say "I never really had that problem with you guys". Yeah. I bet. Three kids and none of us ever cried. Sure. Makes you feel like a worm.

Kids will get sick. My mom continually told me that I needed to find a new daycare for DS because then he wouldn't get sick as often. Uhh no, he licks the dog and everything else that's why he gets sick!

"At least they aren't in daycare. Now they won't get as sick."

Lo1 was pretty sick last winter. Roseola, croup, RSV. He was in daycare, but he also had an undiagnosed dairy allergy and threw up a lot which I don't think helped his immune system any.

Lo2 had had a bad virus this week. My mom keeps telling me "at least he's not in daycare." (Since I'm staying at home now) WTF? He is three months old and sick. Lo2 was way older when he had his first bad virus. KIDS GET SICK. Lo1 licks the playground equipment, puts lo2's pacifier in his mouth and then gives it back ! They are going to get sick!

But thank you for continually telling my parenting choices made my LO sick last year. Grrr.
