It just depends on how I am feeling. Sometimes I won't pump at all even if I miss a feeding. Usually the next time I pump when I am back on schedule I will get extra milk.

I always try to pump before I leave work even if it's close to LO's next feed since I need the milk for the next day. He still nurses when I pick him up from daycare without complaint.

@mrsjyw: I do the same as @winniebee: if it is too close to the next feed or I can't fit it in because of work, etc then I will pump before bed to make up for it.

I don't try to line up my pumps to her feeding times at all. I try to space them roughly evenly, and I make sure that the last pump of the day is at least 2 hours (preferably 2.5) before I plan to get home, since I know she'll want to nurse immediately when I show up.

It depends on how close to the next feeding it was. If I thought he'd eat in an hour, I'd skip it, but if it was going to be longer than that, I'd pump, but I might not pump as thoroughly if I thought he'd be eating again soon.

For the first year, I would have just pumped when I could. I was so leaky that I would get engorged if I skipped a feeding/pump!

If it was too close to the next feeding, I just would pump after the last feeding of the day (before bed) to make up for it.

do you skip the pump or just pump when you can?

My mom gave DS2 a bottle after his unexpected longer nap and I didn't have a chance to pump because the boys had pedi appts-- so I'm pumping late now... hopefully wont mess with his next nursing session around 5...
