@tequiero21: Same here, my old clinic had a separate entrance for retrieval/transfer and I never saw anyone else there. It was nice to have the staff all to myself!

@Mrs. Polish: @spaniellove: haha, that's why I HATE watching medical shows w my hubby. He's always like what!? They never do that. Or why is he on that for that!? So annoying! Lol.

Btw, for ivf retrieval and transfer, I was the only patient in the room!

@leialou: Whaat? You still have to wait? I guess there's no perfect RE's office afterall. It's the funniest thing - when I'm in the elevator with another woman, we walk-race the 20 feet it takes to get to the sign-in sheet. Someone should make a reality show about that! Walk-sprinting. :)

@ineebee: it definitely feels like they care a lot to devote so much time to each person's appointment instead of fitting in as many patients as possible. We still have to wait a bit though!

@leialou: Wow! That must be nice! I hate walking into that waiting room and seeing 15 other women knowing that I'm in line behind all of them.

I've never seen that show. At my RE's office we are always the only ones in the waiting room. That's the way the do appointments. I definitely thinks it's unusual though.

@Mrs. Polish: Haha yeah, there was a point in the season where I was like, wait! How come she just did her first injection and she's already ovulating? What kind of treatment is this and why does it cost $10k?

@spaniellove: I don't think I ever have. I know if I did I would be like "That's wrong. That's wrong. Clearly they don't know anything about IF" and would probably stop watching anyway. haha

I don't watch the show, but I wholeheartedly agree - I have definitely not seen a very comprehensive portrayal of fertility treatments on TV before. Considering how dramatic it can be, I'm surprised it isn't at least a little bit more common!

[Spoiler ahead!]

So I was watching Chicago Fire and there's a character who used donor sperm from a friend to do IUI. Along the way there were some elements that I felt they got wrong (why were they the only patients in the waiting room?), it really hit home tonight when she had her beta and learned it was negative. I don't think I've ever seen that aspect of fertility treatments on TV before...have you?

ETA: OMG now that I've seen the whole episode they nailed it. Like being asked to be godparents right after getting the beta news and all the pregnant women that just come out of the woodwork.
