If there is no fever, and no coughing in sleep, I don't respond. Even with some coughing, I leave A for a bit to see if she can go back to sleep.

@snowjewelz: He is still coughing quite a bit, but I don't hear him coughing in his sleep anymore. I'm not sure why he's waking, but I feel like it's because he is used to it now!

Poor R! Is he waking up coughing? Or just waking up? You can prob try to not respond now, at least not at the beginning if you don't think his wakings are related to being sick still?

If sickness in your child leads to night wakings, how long after the illness is resolved do you wait before trying to sleep train / not respond to night waking?

R had a bad fever from Friday - Monday (102-104) and a nasty cold and cough. He now just has the cough. It's Wednesday. He was previously STTN but now is waking up every night. Wondering when I should not respond / try to let him work it out.
