I have leases for our rental properties, but adjusted it for a short term tenant. We have rented out our place for much less to total strangers for a week or two at a time and it was absolutely fine. </p> <p>I would definitely ask for a big deposit though, like $1000+ to be refunded after the house has been left in good order. And, of course, as many safety checks as possible beforehand, references, access to Facebook accounts, google stalking, etc. </p> <p>Also agree that you should go on vacation for at east part of that time. </p> <p>Is there any sort of tax liability? There was a website set up specifically for US open rentals, almost like a real estate website, where the pros could view homes before renting.
