@Myicitygirl: Our daycare transitioned her to one nap around that time. It was really hard until about 13 months. She would come home from daycare and crash at 5 pm and we couldn't put her back down until 8:30 or so.

We really just had to push through it and try to keep her up and moved her bedtime to about 7-7:30. Even now, she goes to bed at 8 pm and is up between 5:30 and 6. Its less then 10 hours and that is just about the longest she can sleep. I wouldn't wait for 11 hours because we would have never made it there.

My LO sleeps 9-11 hours a night (with at least 2 night wakings, many times more). She transitioned to 1 nap early on (about 11 months) even though we tried to keep her at 2 naps. She would fight us and fight us so to make life easier on all of us she takes one nap for about 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

My DS was sleeping 9-10 hours a night with at least one night waking when he started showing signs of being ready to drop one of his naps. We switched over to one nap a day and within a week he started STTN 11 or more hours every night. It was a miracle!

You could always try out the one nap a day schedule and just see what happens. :)

My son didn't start STTN until we weaned at 2 years old. We transitioned to one nap at 18 months. It is possible.

I think a few users on here had babies who started stern after going to one nap!

Mine does 8-9 hours at night, and going down to one nap has only helped with that! It's been a little rough transitioning to the one nap, but I love it now, he's doing much better with sleep. I think walking has helped both too, he's really wearing himself out now.

Almost sounds like us but I don't think LO gets 9-10 hours of total sleep. He wakes up just as often as your LO, but wakes up screaming and takes awhile to go back down. He only takes one nap a day and sometimes none...not by choice, it's just near impossible to get him to sleep. Like you we have to resort to some extreme measure to get him to nap like baby wearing or driving around until he knocks out (seriously who needs to drive their toddler for naps?!). The no naps and terrible night time sleeping result in one overtired and grumpy toddler but we haven't found anything that works yet. He is getting a sleep study done but it isn't scheduled until mid-August...what does your pedi say about your LO's sleep?

Sorry I don't have any real advice, just that you are not alone and we are in a nearly identical situation.

ETA: DS transitioned himself to 1 nap and then no/sometimes nap. He has always been a terrible napper/sleeper though.

P transitioned herself to one nap a day & doesn't sttn. I tried to keep her at 2 naps but she started refusing to go to sleep in the afternoon and I just couldn't keep fighting with her napping at 10am and then being up until 8:30pm. I just pushed her morning nap back a little bit and she's adjusted great!

Most sources recommend not transitioning to one nap until the toddler is sleeping 11 hours uninterrupted at night. My 14 month old has NEVER slept 11 hours uninterrupted and only sleeps 9-10 hours total at night, with 3-5 wake ups EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He also rarely (meaning never) naps in a crib and I usually have to resort to wearing him in a baby carrier for naps.

When can I transition him to one nap? Has anyone else dealt with this?
