This question is funny. But I'll answer seriously :)</p> <p>Not often! But I'm a big Octavia Butler fan (she was an amazing author of speculative fiction with mostly strong Black female characters, though she had characters of all races and non-human in her books). Her last book is Fledgling and was about a race of vampires called the Ina. They only lived 500 years, though. The Ina were all white and very pale but from what I remember they did some experimentation with the genes from Black people and produced a Black vampire. Basically the book is about how there are some Ina who think she is threatening the purity of their race and try to kill her. Pretty thought provoking...but it's also an uncomfortable read because she has the body of a 10-year old (but is 50 in vampire years) and has some sex scenes. (Hurl!)</p> <p>I just wrote a novel. So they don't discriminate between various races/groups of humans. They are all below them, no matter what. </p> <p>Additionally, I assume they've seen centuries of racism ebb and flow with different groups of people being the focus of prejudice, so they probably just don't care overall. They know that one group might be the focus now, but 50 years ago it was a different group and 50 years later it's going to be another one. It seems like it wouldn't bother them that much since 50 years (or whatever arbitrary time you want to assign) is a really short period of time to vamps, who have been around for thousands of years. It is a blink of an eye to them, and unworthy of worrying about. </p> <p>Finally, ultimately the big topic on True Blood is the assimilation of vampires into mainstream culture.
