Limit, yes. Before 1 I didn't let her have any screen time outside of sometimes watching the flashing lights of whatever I was watching. Around 1.5 we let her watch some songs on Netflix. After 2 she started watching more of that and things like Daniel tiger, Disney jr. Amount honestly depends on the circumstances. She's watching doc mcstuffins right now, and we will turn that off at the end of it, but the past couple days watched nothing. Overall an hour a day I can live with.

we almost always had the tv on before LO was born. after LO was born, any time the tv was on, his eyes were just drawn to it and mesmerized, and that helped motivate me to cut down because i figured he should be finding his fingers or doing tummy time instead of being transfixed by the tv.

I was wondering this... I'm a sahm/wahm and I usually have the TV on. LO is only 4 months, but she will sometimes just stare at the TV. I watch Netflix all day, while working, etc. I've made sure to only watch food network or hgtv stuff so content isn't an issue, but I don't want to raise a TV zombie like me!

@snowjewelz: Same!

We always had the TV on before LO. We thought we would have to make a huge concerted effort, but we only get like 2 hours with him between pick-up and bedtime... there's hardly any time for TV. I'll often look down at my phone for the first time after we've gotten home and realize it's bathtime already... and we only have 1 kid!

ETA: I just remembered your husband is a SAHD. My comment was not even remotely useful. On weekends we do the TV radio stations channel for background noise when we need it. LO is 16 months and has no interest in the TV still. I didn't start worrying about the TV being on until he was ~ 12 mos.

My husband is a big TV watcher but I prefer not to have it on during the day and would rather listen to the radio or music. As it is, we're pretty busy going to playgroup and preschool so we don't have too much down time to watch TV anyways.

We used to always have the TV on too; DH likes to just channel surf to relax and what not and we watched a ton of movies. We pretty much don't turn on the TV now till she goes to bed! Def an adjustment for him!

We always have the TV on. DH likes background noise and he has quite a DVD collection. I watch whatever is on but after I was on hospital bed rest, I've noticed that I prefer the TV off.

Anyway, DH says we should/ plan to limit LOs screen time but I'm wondering how hard it will be for us. We have a TV in our bedroom and living room.
