I definitely loved babies because of my sisters but I had many babysitting nights where I had to hold her all night while she slept until my parents got home, and many nights of cleaning her up while she had the flu, so I never really romanticized raising kids. </p> <p>One of the most memorable times watching her she got the flu really bad and I ended up cleaning diarrhea off the ceiling. So my sister was definitely effective birth control! She was and still is my little angel. I took care of her a lot because my mom was 40+ when she had her and didn't have the stamina she did before and had some complications. So I helped with night waking and stuff. But it just made me love her and love babies. I got pregnant (intentionally, mind you ;) at 21! I just felt ready to be a mom. I'm a little worried but super excited. </p> <p>I was 6 when my sister was born and I was crazy in love with her. I was actually pretty mad when she got older because she was not a snugly baby at all and all I wanted was to snuggle with her! Then I was 13 when my youngest sister was born and I personally think that's a great age to be around a baby sibling because they're excellent birth control! :silly: It took my husband years for me to come around to the idea of having kids. He has been asking for a sibling for awhile. We do talk a lot about how things are going to change when the baby gets here, how they cry a lot and can't do anything for themselves. I'm also prepared for him to be not so excited when the time comes! He came with me to my last appointment and the dr pulled out his ultrasound machine so he could see the baby. He thought that was pretty neat. </p> <p>He is really sweet and will come up and kiss my belly and ask me how I'm feeling (I was super sick the first trimester). I had wanted a 3 year age gap but we struggled with TTC LO#2 so 4 years and 4 months is what we ended up with. I know people say that 4 year olds can be really helpful, etc. but my son is already really afraid of the lack of attention he is anticipating not getting when the baby arrives (he constantly tells me that he hopes I still love him when the baby arrives and that I need to come to his room first in the morning even if the baby is crying). It was so much fun to have her involved in the pregnancy. We definitely took her to an ultrasound. Although I wished I had "practiced" looking at pictures ahead of time with her so she could better identify the face and arms and legs. </p> <p>She's a great help now that baby is here. We do have to watch that she doesn't do too much with baby. The other day she was holding the baby on her lap with the boppy and I realized she had lifted the baby to try to put her up and over her shoulder.
