Just as I was getting settled into having just one DH thinks maybe another, haha
We would need to make some major changes/decisions though and I don't have the fever, we'll see

@Modern Daisy: For what it's worth, I was an only, and I wasn't lonely or lacking in companionship on vacations, etc. Sometimes we'd take a friend/cousin, or vacation with another family with kids, but even when we didn't, I wasn't lonely. My parents did take the time to play with me, so I'm guessing there were times when say, the beach wasn't as relaxing because they were helping me build a sand castle instead of reading. But they also let me do my thing and it was fine. Really, there were many times when I really enjoyed it being just us. I don't think LO is necessarily missing out more by not having a sibling than by having one.

J is 3.5 and I JUST got baby fever! I am waiting at least another year though due to personal timing (I graduate in December, need to pass my boards, get a job, etc). But it really surprised me! We'll see if it sticks..

@DillonLion: Our LO is almost 3 also and I am just not feeling it - I was sure that I would by now but nada. I always assumed that we would have another, maybe just because it's the 'done' thing but every time we set a deadline to start trying we find a reason to push it back. We just really like our lives now. A few months ago, my friend had a baby and I expected the fever to come rushing in, but I held that baby - said 'you're so cute' (she really is!) and was deeply relieved that I got to leave with my toddler!
In my mind, if we don't go for it in the next year, we're done. There are so many advantages to being one and done for us that are hard to overlook. Tough decision though.

@Pumpkin Pie: of course your lo will want a sibling. All kids want siblings at some point in their lives. I had a brother but I wanted a sister so badly (still do some days...)

LO is only 13 months now. We're pretty happy as a family of 3, and its getting more and more manageable. But, I wonder if LO will want a sibling, so I'm torn.

I still go back and forth. I wonder what is the point of having all that extra $ for vacations if DS will just be alone and bored the whole time. Growing up even though we fought all the time at least my sister and I had each other. On days when we don't feel like leaving the house we feel guilty that DS has no one but us to play with. Of course on the flip side at 34 I feel so "done" with having a baby/toddler around and there is also the fact that we bought a 3 bedroom house and I really don't want to give up our guest room that gets used all the time when my Il's visit.

Part of me is sad that I'll never be pregnant again, because I really love it. To the point I would consider being a surrogate. Unfortunately my history rules out any future pregnancies. If we change our minds on having another, we'll adopt.

That being said, I am otherwise completely happy with just one. I love being able to look forward to the things we'll do with her, like travel, because we'll be able to afford so much more. The thought of another is just overwhelming, and not at all exciting. Hopefully that doesn't change.

Though I think I may talk to DH about fostering someday, when she's much older. My aunt used to foster babies during the period between birth and placement with a family. I love itty babies, so I could see enjoying that.

I have no desire right now. No desire for being up all night, pumping at work, poop, spit-up, all-the-colds. Our life is really, really good right now. I'm afraid to mess it up! My neighbor has a 10 month old and I have had absolutely 0 baby fever when holding him over the past 10 months.

Sure, it sucks that she won't have a sibling to pal around with but we plan on living in a really social neighborhood with lots of neighborhood kids she can pal around with.

I've felt firmly one-and-done ever since LO was born. Luckily our families have not given us any pressure whatsoever to have more children. DH is not totally on board yet, but he hasn't really decided either way what he truly wants.

Now that LO is nearly 3, I'm surprised that I still don't seem to have any desire for more children. I figured I'd get through the newborn haze and change my mind eventually. But I'm so happy with our life and we'll be able to reach all of our family financial goals (like putting her through college) and I feel really protective of that. There's a ton of other reasons I'm happy having one child as well.

Anyway, now that your LO is getting older, how are you feeling about being one-and-done?
