We went from seeing them once a week to a few times a year. We have not made any new friends in our new area. DH and I are both introverts so it has been hard for us to meet new people. I don't have any kids yet so I can't join a moms' group. I am actually thinking about taking a sewing class in the fall so I can meet some people. I'm very lonely. I'm in a town far enough from my parents that I don't know anyone, and find it really hard to meet people, especially not having LOs to meet other moms. One in NJ (my bff) One who's currently in CA, from high school in Cuba, and one in Florida, who I met when I was like 10 in Cuba. I see them all maybe once a year, (for extended periods of time, like when I'm on vacation) and different times obviously. I'm extremely lonely :( I have some friends here, but they all either work and/or have babies. I haven't clicked with anyone the way I have with my BFs. I don't see any of them very often, my best friend loves across the state. I see her once every few months if there is an event but otherwise be just talk on the phone or text. Even then it's a few times a week, if that. My other friends I see pretty infrequently. Like once a month or sometimes less. I have lots of acquaintances. I'm actually really fine with this as I really like my coworkers and see then often. I really enjoy spending my time off with my husband since we sometimes go days without seeing each other. I don't see any of them often at all due to my job (I've moved around a lot all over the country while they stayed in our hometown the whole time.) Definitely feel like a loser with no friends sometimes when I see (damn FB) how most of my friends from high school managed to stay close with each other through the years. And I feel alone when I need to vent about stresses from my job and I can't really do that with my girlfriends because they don't know anything about my career field and can't relate because it is so different and specialized than your typical office job. I also have 2 friends & about 5 other friends that I see randomly a few times. I usually see my best friends once a week. DH is truly my best friend and I see him everyday. And spending time with DS is tons of fun. I'm not necessarily lonely, as I tend to be a solitary person by nature, but I would enjoy having a few more meaningful relationships. One of them lives across country, so I only see her maybe twice a year, but we e-mail each other a lot. My other friend is local and we see each other 1-2 times a month probably. I don't feel lonely at all. I have friends at work that I see daily (not best friends, but people I enjoy eating lunch with and stuff) and then when I'm home, I'm hanging with Hubs and Xander and don't really have time to feel lonely! I've made some lovely friends here though and that's helped a great deal. Having LO really stopped me missing my friends as much. Same situation here. Also the first of my group to have a kid too, so my friends don't entirely get my new mom lifestyle. Phone calls and texting make things easier and keep me in the loop more. Do you feel lovely? How many good friends do you have? I'd say I have 2 very close friends, I see them each about once a fortnight so I spend some time with friends about once a week. I have perhaps 3 other vague friends who I see sporadically throughout the year. I'm not lonely but I definitely miss having a bit close knit group of girls as I did in late teens/early twenties. Luckily I see my mum and DH daily to keep me social and sane :) perhaps once LO is born ill make friends with some mums too.
