My son hated the stroller/car seat combo. I don't know if it was the bumps or him wanting to be closer to us, but I was glad we didn't have a snap and go since we never would have used it. (We have a Joovy umbrella stroller that you can stick a car seat in.) He still prefers to be carried, but I use the stroller when I am too tired or my back hurts.

I can tell you that, having a kid who despises her car seat with a burning passion, I mastered getting her in and out of it and into the carrier without waking her up. We never bought a snap n go, Im glad for that. BUT, every baby is different

We pretty much only use the stroller for running or if I'm walking to the market, which is about 15 min on foot. So then I don't have to carry the bags and the baby.

I babywear as much as possible or just carry DS for quick trips. I can count on one hand how many times we've used our stroller (City Mini...LOVE it) and of those times most of them have been grandma and grandpa taking LO for a walk.

I love your City Mini but I hate using it lol. Not sure if that makes sense yet, but once you get into babywearing it will. The City Mini is super easy to use and fold, so that's not the issue, I just prefer to wear, and DS does too. When we did use the stroller before 6 months, we used the infant seat with adaptor. The seat does recline nearly flat like you stated, so that might not be a necessary purchase if you plan to babywear mostly anyway (our adaptor was a gift).

I love reading what everyone has done! I can definitely see the appeal of a snap-n-go. However, I have read some stuff suggesting that because of the chemicals that make carseats flame retardant, it's a good idea to not have LOs in there too much. While I'm sure it's fine, for now I'm pretty sure we won't go the travel system route. I actually just read that stroller I have bookmarked, the City Mini, reclines enough for an infant under 6 months to ride in, so I'm thinking when the time comes, maybe we'll get that one with a Snuzzler if we need to use a stroller!

I would think the stroller would be most important in those first six months. If baby falls asleep in the car seat you will most likely wake him when you transition him to a carrier where as if you have a stroller you could just pop the car seat in there and not have to disturb baby.

I always planned to wear my baby in a carrier, but since it's winter here, it's much easier to use a stroller so we bought a used travel system which I use for all errands and walks with baby. That way I'm sure that LO is warm enough, and I have a basket to put the diaper bag, my coat and everything else when shopping... Once the weather allows, I'll use the carrier more, since it will be more convenient then.

I wore my baby a lot in the beginning but I also used the Snap n go quite a lot too. Especially if the baby fell asleep in the infant car seat, we would transfer him to the snap n go and run our errands without waking him up.

we use our stroller all the time because we often go out to eat, and i don't want to have to hold olive. also it's different when you have two kids because it's harder to chase the older one down when you're wearing the younger one.

olive also doesn't *love* being in the carrier, so i would say we use half and half carrier/stroller for now.

We've used our "real" stroller like three times ever. Currently, if we go out, we just bring the Ergo with us and wear him (or stick him in a high chair or shopping cart or whatever other device is appropriate once we reach our destination).
However, when DS was really little, we used our snap and go with the infant car seat ALL the time. DS slept really well in the car and in his carseat, and it was so much easier to just let him stay in it if I had to run errands. Also, the snap and go gave me a basket to put the diaper bag and any purchases in, a cup holder, etc. Whereas if I'm walking around, say, the farmer's market with LO strapped to me, I'm also carrying a diaper bag and all my produce with me, which can be a pain.
If you plan to babywear, I'd suggest maybe holding off on buying a "real" stroller till you see how much you and your LO like babywearing and how it fits into your life (maybe you won't need one till LO is old enough to go into a cheaper and lighter weight umbrella stroller, or maybe you'll only ever need a jogging stroller), but I always totally 100% recommend the snap and go if you do a lot of driving (if you live in NYC and don't own a car and walk/public transit everywhere, ignore me).

My LO doesn't love being in her carrier. She can take it for about a half hour at a time. She's much happier in her stroller for long periods of time. I think it just depends on your baby.

I babywear as often as I can. DS loved it until about 9 months and over the last 2 months has been fighting me when I put him in. He's really active and likes to see more than he can when I front carry him facing me. (We have a Boba, which I love.) I use the stroller when I'm running or when we go for longer walks sometimes. When DS was younger, I would use the stroller with the infant seat if I was running errands. DS would stay asleep while I moved him between the car and the stroller several times over. He always woke up when I transferred him from the carseat to the carrier or vice versa.

We wear our baby (11 months old) and never use our stroller. Luckily we didn't invest in an expensive one. Got the Maclaren Volo (umbrella stroller) as a baby shower gift.
We did have a universal stroller for our infant carseat, but stopped using it when we transitioned our LO to her convertible seat at 7 months!

Its not crazy. We bought an Uppbaby Vista and an Uppababy G-Luxe, but I also bought a ring sling I LOVE.. Id say I babywear 95% of the time (shes 7 months old) and use the stroller sparingly. We will use it to go on walks and stuff, but for errands, I wear her. Shes also at the age where I can put her in teh shopping cart now (which she gets a kick out of) so we dont use the stroller for shopping either. I have a feeling we'll use it a lot more as she gets older, but I used her stroller on maybe 4 or 5 errands since she has been born. So no, you arent crazy =o) Id have a stroller on hand to use in case she gets fussy in the carrier (Liv occasionally protests) but Id wait to really invest in one until you know what you will be needing. Let me know if you want some carrier recos, we have a bunch!

You know, baby crack is not unlike other drugs. You build up a tolerance to your usual dose, and have to search for harder and harder stuff, and have to get more and more... Which is why I have been looking at strollers, although there's no LO in sight for us for a while! I need more baby crack! :)

Anyway, here's my question. I hope to be a babywearer, and we'll probably register for/invest in a few different types of slings and carriers so we can find what works for our LO. Yesterday I was reading a lot about strollers and all the different options, and I thought, if we plan on wearing the baby as much as possible, how important is a stroller? How does that affect what kind of stroller we'd get? For example, I don't feel like a travel system would be that necessary because ideally the baby would be going in a carrier out of the car rather than snapping into a stroller. I almost wonder if we need a stroller at all for the first 6 months... or is this crazy unrealistic?
