@Rainbow Sprinkles: wow! Some people. My MIL got pregnant with my DH when her oldest was 2 months. The pediatrician told her that she had to stop breastfeeding because is was taking nutrients away from DH. So she stopped and then her OB said her ped was obviously wrong. She really regrets stopping with her first!

@kml636: I'm also pregnant with #2 and they told me "I'm draining all the nutrients from the fetus and wasting it on my toddler."

@MamaJ: I had never heard that expression until I had kids and was around my inlaws... I think its just something they came up with.. because as the years go by, I'm learning all kinds of crazy 'sayings'. I call them Turner-isms. lol

@MamaJ: The last one made me LOL too.

As for all the 'still breastfeeding' comments, for younger people I'd chalk that up to people having no idea when babies do what. Kind of like when I would first tell people I was pregnant and they would ask if it was a boy or girl (like strangers). I got paranoid that I looked way farther along than I was but people just don't know. So as someone who hasn't been asked that and has no place giving advice, I would say you could respond just saying something like, yup, our doctor / AAP recommends doing it until a year or more, or something?

Haha, I usually say all that weird stuff myself! I love to tell her she's going to get a taste of what I'm eating, lol. The only thing I notice is that a lot of women of my mother's generation will ask me if I'm *still* breastfeeding every time I see them. When I say I am they are almost shocked and say something like, 'oh good for you!' LO is only three months so I'm always confused, haha.

@runsyellowlites: I just think my MIL asking what he had for dinner is weird. It just makes me feel awkward haha. And yes the "oh he must still be hungry" so annoying.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I'm already getting "you are still nursing" and DS is only 5 months.

Thats funny. My FIL would make the comment... "the baby is ready for some groceries, mama"... when my babies would fuss or be hungry.

Yes. My co-workers think I'm "disgusting" for Bfing my one-year old. They say it's "unnatural" to breastfeed a baby that old.

Lol! I don't know if they bothered you but I think those are all great breastfeeding comments! I think DH has actually done the milkshakes reference before & he's said things like "Oh Nelope will get some of that (whatever I'm eating) later" which I think is funny.

I know in the beginning I got comments making it seem like my milk wasn't enough... pretty much ANY time P fussed she was hungry & if I had already fed her/need to feed her again. It was so frustrating! Thankfully those are in the past! lol

Haha oh my gosh. No one really makes weird comments to me, but I make the weird comments myself. Like "Time for breakfast!" and stupid stuff like that.

I feel like I get a ton of weird comments from people. Especially my MIL.

After feeding DS, I give him to my MIL and she says "what did you eat? Peas? Green beans?" Sometimes she even says stuff that I just ate. Totally weirds me out. She also will say "yum yum thanks mommy".

Sunday DS was fighting sleep and our close male friend that was over said "oh just give him the boob!!"

And my husband was goofing around and shaking my arms which made my boobs jiggle and he said "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard". That one definitely made me LOL.

Anyone else get weird comments about breastfeeding?
