We do both days! Smaller family, nice dinner, etc on Christmas Eve, then the big family Christmas Day around 3pm

Both but the big deal is on the 24th with my family, based on European traditions my parents grew up with. DH's family does a more typical American Christmas on the 25th.

We do big stuff for both but I think next year I want to keep Christmas Eve to just the three of us and have a quiet night.

It varies depending on everyone's schedules. So we usually try to celebrate with one side of the family on the 25th and then the other whenever works best. This year we went to my parents on the 23rd and then celebrated with his family on the 25th, but my parents came to that too this year

Both if home. Christmas Eve with my mom's extended family and Christmas Day just us or with my parents/sibs. If we're with DH's family, my inlaws rotate which day is at their house. We all celebrate together again on the last day of Christmas/Epiphany.

Growing up we would go to church at night on the 24th, then open presents and celebrate with extended family on the 25th. When my siblings and I were in highschool/college, we would stay up late on the 24th and open presents with family. We would sleep in on the 25th and celebrate with extended family later in the day.
Now DH and I don't live in our hometown, so it has been different every year.

@Boogs: we do a big meal with the entire extended family on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day we open presents from Santa and have a more low key meal.

Growing up, it was always Christmas Day. Now with DH in the fire service, it will depend on the year! Will be interesting navigating Santa coming a day early or a day late. 🎅🏼

Do you usually celebrate on the 24th or the 25th? Or do you celebrate both days?

My side of the family used to celebrate on the 24th, but now because of work schedules we always do the 25th. DH's side varies every year. Some years, depending on schedules, we celebrate a completely different day.
