We started cosleeping after the 4mo regression. LO doesn't sleep through the night but wake ups were more manageable with him in bed with us. At 13mo he is now sleeping longer in his crib (7:30-1ish) huge for us. We miss him now though, go figure.

We were also in the never camp but it is so lovely to have him next to us.

Our 15-month-old does not sleep through the night. She has on occasion and that was when she was younger. She is guaranteed one wake up, but it's been more like 2-3 lately because her molars are coming in.

We co-bed, but are trying to get her to sleep in her crib (sidecarred to our bed). When she sleeps in her crib she wakes up less.

@glimmersnaps: @Mrs. Jacks: wow that is a big commitment, although I can totally see how you would just fall into it. I definitely see how choosing the path of least resistance we could end up there, but DH is a very light sleeper and the night wakings disturb his sleep too so I don't think we could continue for quite that long regardless.

@bunnylove08: awesome! That is very encouraging!

@MrsMccarthy: oh good! Yeah I sort of dodged the separation anxiety bullet with my first but I'm not sure we'll be quite so lucky this time.

My son is 11 months and sleeps through most nights. He had a regression at 4 months too but it passed. With separation anxiety next in line (usually between 6-9 months) you might be better to hang in there than change things now anyway.

We co slept from the beginning with DS who is now 2.5 years. We have a queen bed plus a sidecarred crib, though he never slept in the crib. He night nursed until he was 22 months and stopped when he stopped nursing. This was the last session to go. He did it pretty naturally and also I was pregnant.

For me I feel like it will be time to move him out when he's old enough to be excited for his own space. Until then... we are going to need a bigger bed! :)

@lolabee: yup with my first it was painfully obvious that it was time after 6 weeks of non stop wake ups. I feel like this lo will not take to sleep training as well- he's a sensitive soul, plus we definitely have developmental stuff going on- sitting up, rolling over, etc, I will let you know though since we only have about 4-6 weeks to make any big changes.

@Baby Boy Mom: hmmm mine does too! I think that definitely makes it harder.
That sounds like a good set up with the twin bed.

I'm not ready to sleep train yet but maybe I'm just putting off the inevitable - not sure?!! Lol Glad it worked so quickly and well for you with toddler boy.

That's a toughie on what to do though, as you may have everyone waking up for the first while. Everyone that I know that has coslept/bed says that you 'just know' when it's time? I'd guess that time is whenever it isn't working well anymore. That said how do you know if the night waking are from a 'wonder week' per say - or if you don't believe in that a developmental phase of some sort. Teeth?

Sorry I'm really not much of a help at all! Keep me updated. :)

LO started sleeping through the night as soon as we started co-bedding. She is almost 14 months and STTN, we mostly still co-bed but sometimes she sleeps on her floorbed, which is in our bedroom. She had a little bit of sleep regression around 9 months, but not much.

@Mrs. Tricycle: @katsupgirl: oh man! This is what I'm afraid of. Ok, thanks for your replies.

@lolabee: no he absolutely refuses any type of pacifier! I also still have to partially swaddle him because his crazy arms don't let him sleep well. We are cobedding but have a twin bed between our queen and the wall so that is where I first put him down. Then depending on whether DH is in bed at first wakeup I either move to him or bring him to me.

With my toddler it was different because he was waking up so many times that we needed to sleep train anyway. So we did everything at once: moved to a crib in his own room in a sleep sack. We did Ferber and within a day or two he was sleeping like a champ. He had two predictable night wakings, at 8 months dropped to one, and at 10 dropped the last one. In many ways it was ideal. My problem now is if I move Baby Brother to my toddler's room he ( or I) might wake him up going in for night feeds :/ . Ugh, I really don't know what to do!

@Baby Boy Mom: thank you for asking this question! I am very curious too. LO regressed at 4.5 months and we haven't recovered either. Makes me sad! I agree, I think because they smell the milk they're more apt to search for the boob to comfort in the night. Does your LO take a soother? Do you put LO to bed in your bed first or crib then at first wake up move him into your bed?

I'm not ready to move him out but wonder if I should start thinking about it. How was the transition with your toddler? LO is not a good self soother at all so it worries me!!

We do a mix of bed sharing and crib sleep depending on how lazy I am. She wakes up about twice a night either way. She's almost 10 months. The crib is next to our bed. I think they go through phases so its always something. Right now it's teething.

Right around 4/5 months co-bedding stopped working for us. Too much squirming and he refused to fall asleep. This is when we transitioned to a Rock 'n Play, but we still shared a room for a little while longer.

@bunnylove08: did she just naturally stop the night feedings or did you have to do something to get it that way?
I ask because with my toddler we moved him out at around 6 months and instantly he dropped the night feeding to 2, down from 10 or more. I've been getting a lot more rest cosleeping with this lo but wondering if it's time for a change?

We still Co sleep with lo and she is 10 months. She sleeps through the night now but it was a little bit of a struggle because she was teething. I think she sleeps better co sleeping with us because when she wakes up she sees she's near us and then goes back to sleep

LO is 5.5 months. Until the 4 month sleep regression we were good and he would only wake up twice during the night, nurse and then fall back asleep. Since the 4 month craziness he has not gone back on the schedule and wakes up minimum 4 times at night and often times a lot more than that. Momma is tired! He has also been waking up when I come into the room at night even if I tiptoe in, and I think he is smelling the milk.

Is it time to end our co-sleeping era? Is there any hope he will go back to almost STTN or should I just move him out of our room?

(This is complicated by the fact that if he moves out, he'll be sharing a room with our toddler).
