I feel like clarifying as well - co-sleeping to me means same room, but separate beds, which we always planned on doing until at least 6 months. Co-bedding is in the same bed, but in the spirit of the question is what I was referring to when I was answering.

And when I say he "wakes up" I mean he wakes up to dream feed (so not fully awake). It just sucks because it means I have to be awake at first too.

Was co sleeping your first choice? No. Not with either DS or DD.

Do you regret starting co sleeping? No! Not at all. I love hearing their little snores and cuddling with them.

How long do you plan to co sleep? It depends, I put DD down in her crib, she usually sleeps until 2am and then nurses in bed with me. But if she won't sleep in her crib for the beginning of the night then we'll probably stop co-sleeping. I'm hoping to stop entirely by 12 months. DS is 3.5 and still comes in my bed sometimes.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep? Rarely but I just nurse her again if she does.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms? In the middle, in my arms. All pillows and blankets are away.

If co-sleeping is sleeping in the same room we'd planned on doing that for around 6 months, in an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper, but he wasn't down with that, so he moved into our bed, which is what I now consider co-sleeping.

Was co sleeping your first choice?
Absolutely NOT. I didn't want to do this (scary stories and all) but I had to. Working out of the house full time I wasn't getting enough sleep with him reverse cycling and he needed the calories. So at 6 months he started co-sleeping with us.

Do you regret starting co sleeping?
No, I will do it from the beginning from now on.

How long do you plan to co sleep?
Until he can't fit anymore. So probably when I get preggers again.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?
Yes at 21 months he wakes 2 or 3 times a night. We are weaning so he asks for that and we have a fight. It is getting better he only woke up once last night. I believe we feed off each other so if either of us is having a hard time sleeping we wake the other up.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?
He started sleeping on my arm. Now he sleeps in the middle.

*cosleeping to us means in the same bed

Was co sleeping your first choice?: No - we swore we would never do it!

Do you regret starting co sleeping?: Not at all. I am a WOHM so it is a nice way to reconnect and nurse on demand.

How long do you plan to co sleep?: He is 7 months today and last night we started to process of trading down associations to have him sleep in his crib.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?: Not really - he will do a few dream feeds.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?: In the middle or in my arm in the middle. I don't sleep with a pillow/blankets - usually wear an easy access top with a cardigan over it for warmth. Hubby uses blanket and pillow

In full disclosure, I would love to continue to cosleep but LO will not fall asleep in his crib anymore and I need some time at night to prep for the next day :/

we do it sometimes when she wakes up at night, she is older now so its not as scary as the newborn stage. we sleeps in the middle. I definitely didnt plan to co-sleep ahead of time, I did want her crib in our room, which is where it is, but didnt know I would end up bringing her into our bed sometimes

Was co bedding your first choice?
--no! when I was pregnant, I said over and over that I'd never have a 'family' bed, couldn't understand why anyone would, etc. etc. I was one of THOSE PEOPLE who judged before doing.

Do you regret starting co bedding?
--Not at all. She started in the bassinet next to the bed, but our room is so awkwardly set up that I couldn't get out of bed. My side was with my nightstand in the only space between wall and bed, then bassinet in front of nightstand, so I had to scoot all the way down the bed to get up. With a horrible tear this was SO miserable. We bought a summer infant co-sleeper thing for in the bed at about 1 month, and then when she outgrew that she's just in between us. Same as @yoursilverlining, her head is right between our pillows (we have a king, so she has tons of room) and the blankets are way low. Before she was rolly, she was on my side and I went in the middle, but I don't want her to squirm off the edge!

How long do you plan to co sleep?
--as long as it works, TBH. we're hoping to try to transition to crib in the spring, when her room won't be arctic freezing. it has a wicked draft.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?
--she wasn't until she got sick 2 weeks ago. she would sleep 7p-3a, then wake and nurse and go right back out again. The last two weeks she's been up every 3-4 hours to nurse. I think out of habit from when she was congested, not sure..

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?
--middle, but early morning I usually pull her in to snuggle because for some reason 3a is her witching hour! when I snuggle her she goes right to sleep.

Was co sleeping your first choice? There seem to be a lot of different definitions of co-sleep and co-bed; so I’ll say that we planned to have her in a bassinet right next to our bed; but we were against having her actually in the bed with us. So, co-sleeping in the bed was not our first choice.

Do you regret starting co sleeping? No way! Best decision we ever made! LO immediately started sleeping through the night as soon as we brought her into the bed, and we love having her in the bed. I agree that it’s nice to get that extra time with her that I don’t get during the day. It’s also so wonderful to wake up for a moment, reach out and snuggle her and then fall back asleep.

How long do you plan to co sleep? I’m not sure. We had said we would be moving her to her own bed (next to ours) at 8 months, but honestly, neither of us feels a real push to get her out of the bed. Sometimes she sleeps in her own bed now, and sometimes she sleeps with us. It depends on our moods more than hers haha. I do want to transition her before she is 1 year because I do miss spooning with my husband and having alone/adult time.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep? No; she sleeps through to the morning. When she is in her own little bed, she will sleep until about 4:30 and then wakes and will immediately fall back asleep as soon as I bring her into our bed.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms? She sleeps in the middle of the bed, between my husband and I. When she was wee (under about 12 weeks) she slept in the middle in a co-sleeper thing. Now she just sleeps in the middle. I put her up closer to the headboard and then I scrunch down a little in the bed so that when I have blankets up around my shoulders they won’t cover her.

Was co sleeping your first choice?
Co-sleeping, yes. But co-bedding, no. I had always planned to have LO in our bedroom because I planned to nurse, and because the nursery is upstairs (our master in on the main floor).

Do you regret starting co sleeping?
Not one bit! Except I think it has somewhat hindered my pp sex life.

How long do you plan to co sleep?
At least until 6 months or when LO sleeps through the night . . . which hasn't come close to happening yet (she is almost 5 months).

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?
Yes - repeatedly, but less frequently than when she is in her RnP.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?
Usually cradled in my arms and away from the middle, or on my chest. When I am in bed alone, I sometimes cradle her in my arms with her in the middle of the bed.

@MrsJazz: "I think in some way co-sleeping eases some of my work outside the home mommy guilt." This is exactly how I feel . . . one on one time that I can't give her during the day.

ETA: For me, co-sleeping means in the same room but not in the same bed, whereas co-bedding means in the same bed.

Do you regret starting co sleeping? NOT AT ALL

How long do you plan to co sleep? UNTIL THE BED GETS TOO FULL!

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep? NOT AS MUCH TO RARELY

Was co sleeping your first choice?
Not really but I wasn't super opposed to it. Every mammal sleeps with their young, why do we banish them to a crib? I mean, not even I sleep alone, why should a tiny newborn?

Do you regret starting co sleeping?
Sort-of, for a variety of reasons - 1) DH snores & we have a queen + he's not as comfortable cosleeping as I am, so he's sleeping on the pull-out. I miss snuggling with my husband, tbh. 2) I have insomnia sometimes & feel like I'm disturbing him. 3) he expects to be nursed everytime I come to bed.

How long do you plan to co sleep?
Not too much longer (he'll be 6 months in Feb). He's started to move when he wakes up and go sideways, and I'm afraid he'll wiggle right off the edge.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?
Yes, both for nursing (11pm, 3am, 5am, give or take an hour). I'm interested to see if he drops some of those wakings if he sleeps without me getting in/out of bed & disturbing him.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?
Middle (my right), breast level. Sometimes I'll grab him and roll to my left to nurse on that side. When that happens he's usually cradled in my arms. When he was younger (<6 weeks) we would sleep on my chest and I would sleep propped up on pillows

Was co sleeping your first choice?

No, not at all. It was actually something I swore I'd never do. But E would not sleep unless he was being held/snuggled up to me, so after a night of not sleeping and another two nights of dozing in the recliner with him in my arms I decided it was probably safer for all of us if we were in the bed.

Do you regret starting co sleeping?

It wasn't my first choice, or even on my radar as a possibility, but I absolutely do not regret it. I love having him so close to me, I love feeling him curl his warm little body into mine, I love not having to get out of bed to nurse, I love that the first thing I saw in the morning was his sleepy, loving grin directed at me.

How long do you plan to co sleep?

We co-slept all night until about 4 months. At that point I nursed him to sleep in our bed and then once he was fully out moving him to PnP at the foot of our bed and bringing him back when at his first wake-up. Two weeks ago we started putting him to sleep in the PnP (and bringing him into bed when he woke up) and last Friday we started putting him to bed in his crib in his own nursery. When he's woken up I've nursed and then put him back in the crib, but I still bring him into bed for a few hours when he wakes up in the early morning.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?

Not usually. Sometimes he would rouse long enough to root and then fall right back asleep nursing. And he often woke up before me...I would wake up to him nursing and stroking my face.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?

He slept either between me and the wall or me and DH. DH takes up maybe 1/4 of the bed, and sleeps in a sleeping bag with a cat on top of him. He's conditioned to not roll over, lol. Plus we aren't cuddly sleepers so I've never been concerned about him rolling over in his sleep to try to cuddle. And even if he did, E would be in the crook of my arm, so if DH rolled over he'd wake me up by rolling onto my arm before he rolled onto DS. And DS is a total bed-hog anyway...I imagine he'd manage to kick DH off the bed before he'd get rolled on, lol.

I don't know if we'll have a second LO but it's likely something we'll plan on doing again.

@mrsaudi: Before LO was born we knew we wanted to have LO sleep in our room but never planned on having her sleep in our bed regularly. LO slept on my chest for most of the first month in 2-3 hour increments throughout the night because she would just scream otherwise. We ended up getting an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper when LO was about 1.5 months old to make things easier for me and her with breastfeeding and the fact that I still had a lot of pain after the c-section. She started sleeping in our bed because I would bring her in to breastfeed and we would both fall asleep. When she was younger I would move her back to the co-sleeper but I stopped that around 5 months.

I don't regret it because I love cuddling with her but I do want her to self soothe more. I think in some way co-sleeping eases some of my work outside the home mommy guilt.

I don't know how long. We moved her crib from her room to ours since she outgrew the co-sleeper and I try to put her down initially in the crib but she only stays in it for 3 hours. The first night I put her in the crib even though I was still right next to her I was sad about it. Since she's 9 months and getting bigger it is getting harder since she flops and kicks in her sleep.

She sleeps in the middle and on the outside of my side, depends on what side I nursed her last. She normally sleeps from 9:30, to 5, nurses back to sleep and then wakes up at 7:30 and nurses again and is up for the day but since she has recently started waking up around 1 am to nurse. I think its because she dropped a feeding at 6 pm when I get home, who knows.

I know I will miss co-sleeping. I know I can't sleep well when my husband isn't in bed, so I don't understand why my baby is expected to sleep well without me! :-)

We co-bed part of the night. Generally P comes into our bed after her first waking after DH and I have gone to bed so she starts off in her bed in our room and then moves to our bed anywhere from 1-5 in the morning.

Was co sleeping your first choice?
Yes & No. We weren't initially set up for co-bedding so P slept in her RnP by our bed. That lasted about 6 weeks. I was not ever opposed to co-bedding though and knew we would at some point.

Do you regret starting co sleeping?
Nope. We all sleep better and the night nursing is great for my supply so it's kind of a win win.

How long do you plan to co sleep?
No real plan at this point. I'd say atleast until P is a year.

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep?
Sometimes, if she's teething or in a WW. She usually just turns her head rooting for the boob and then goes back to sleep nursing.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?
She generally sleeps between me & the wall without any covers and low enough under where the pillows are to be where muh boobs are. Sometimes she sleeps between DH and I (now that he's used to her in the bed) with the covers only on him (I am usually warm enough with her near me).

Was co sleeping your first choice? Nope

Do you regret starting co sleeping? Not really, there was a stretch of a few months that I really loved it. Now I'm mostly over it.

How long do you plan to co sleep? I'd love to stop any time! We started around 8 months and are at 12 months now. I would like to continue co-sleeping naps when I have the time though- one of my favorite things!

Does your LO still wake up when you co sleep? Not too often, it is the way I get the highest quality sleep when he keeps waking up.

Where does your LO sleep at? In the middle, in your arms?

I keep him in his crib for as long as I can, usually getting up twice. The first time I can usually get him settled back on his own, the second time I'm usually so sleepy I just pick him up and we co-sleep in the guest room so we don't wake up my husband on his work days. Usually his head is on my upper arm. If we share our main bed, I have him on the outside with an arm around him.

He sleeps on top of my arm in the middle of the bed away from blankets and pillows.
He stays asleep until i wake up and my arm is numb.
Ill continue to do it as long as im super sleepy and he is not falling asleep in the crib.

We have resorted to co-sleeping with my 9 month old because he was waking up multiple times in his crib he sleeps much better with me but still wakes up for a bottle. I have a few questions for other co sleepers:
