LO currently won't sleep well if no one is with her. I stay with her till DH is ready to go to bed, then I pump and have my alone time while he's with her. Eventually the plan is to be able to put her down and have time together, but at this point sleep is a bigger priority. We do plan to cosleep long term, so we have a rail on the bed.

We used to co-sleep. When he was about 5 months -9 months he needed lots of nursing/holding/rocking/shushing to sleep so I would put him down with that method in his crib for the first stretch. Then when DH and I were about to go to sleep after 10, he would inevitably wake up so I brought him in my bed at that time. I was never comfortable leaving him in the bed unless one of us was with him.

As others said, I nurse her laying on my side, which allows me to slip away without disturbing her. I'm just really quiet when I return. If she wakes when I get back, I just nurse her back to sleep.

We've been co-sleeping pretty much since birth. Do you use white noise? We have it on pretty loud. I put DD down on our bed and then we come to bed later. When she was young I'd nurse her laying down and then we both fall asleep side by side. I think co-sleep for us really works (she's 16 mo now and we are still in one bed) b/c she doesn't like to touch us so we all kinda have our own space!

we've co-slept since LO was teeny (and are still doing it at almost 4) and we've always put LO down to bed, then left the room, had an evening and then gone to bed at our normal time.

At that age he was falling asleep in my arms and would stay there until we went to bed. In bed he slept in my arms. We live in a noisy area that DS is used to so we could watch tv and move him around and he'd still be asleep.

We did gentle transition to a crib once he started daycare around 5 months. He took to it like a champ.

We used to co-sleep and I used to hold her in my arms but then what I started doing was nursing her on the bed while laying on my side. Then, when she fell asleep, I would be able to detach myself and go do stuff. She was not rolling yet so I was never worried about her falling off our (king sized) bed.

Then around 6 months I transitioned her to her crib in her room. I'm not going to lie, it was rough, but after two weeks she got used to sleeping in there on her own!

Good luck!

At that age, LO was in a co-sleeper attached to our bed. We'd put her down by giving her a bottle, and laying her down once she was alseep. Then, yes, we'd just sneak back in later when we were ready for bed.

It worked for us until about 10 months, and we were all keeping each other awake. It worked better for us to get her down in her own room then.

Between 4-10 months (around 6ish), we did gentle sleep training (in our room) so she could learn to fall asleep on her own. That was a life saver.

Good luck with what you choose!!

DD is 4 months and I just started reading the Healthy Sleep Habbits book.
I didn't mean to co-sleep, she just sleeps longer in my bed which means I can sleep longer. We have an unfortunate pattern where she sleeps in my arms, and it must stop. She isn't getting enough sleep because when I have to go to the bathroom or answer the door or something she wakes up... and I'm not getting anything done during nap times because I'm under a baby.
The big question is, if your baby sleeps in your bed/room do you go to bed at the same time or after? How do you go to bed after? Just be really quiet? I don't know what I'm doing... Help!
