We still have separate accounts after about 4 years of marriage. We do have a joint savings account though. We just kind of split up bills and expenses and we don't really make big purchases without discussing. We have a joint account but we hardly use it. We each keep our own checking and savings accounts and personally I like my financial autonomy.</p> <p>We just split up who pays for what. DH pays mortgage and house related bills (like utilities and cable), then saves/invests and spends money on himself for commuting costs/eating out/fun money.
