@winniebee: I had the same problem with my first (he's 3 now). I thought it was b/c he was still hungry so my husband would insist that I top him off with formula. I'm not sure if that was a good idea since it took almost 3 months for my milk supply to stabilize and be enough for him.

With our second one I decided not to top him off with formula and just let him stay at the boob a little longer for a second let down. He does sometimes cry a little bit (more like a whiny cry) and then my second let down happens and he's happy again. And if he's hungry under 2 hours I'll feed him anyway. I just see it as a growth spurt. :) I also found that my supply is lower during certain times of the day, especially if I've been running around doing errands or chores around the house.

I wish DS would stop snarfing his milk and instead eat for more then 5 minutes.....and stop crying at the end of his feedings (still trying to figure out why...)

And to add into the allergy conversation, we did peanut butter right away at 6 months (little bits, not enough to gum her up and be a choking hazard) and watched carefully. They say that the first reaction is usually pretty mild but lets you know there's a problem! Our Doctor said to let them try everything as young as possible...to the horror of many people who watched her eat. But they already thought I was trying to kill her with the Baby Led Weaning so, meh?

If Wonder Baby could be a better napper, she's killing me with wearing her all day and it's making her super tired when she doesn't get enough sleep.

Toddler Girl...it's a little thing, but if she could just learn to talk quietly. She doesn't understand the concept of quiet at all and there is usually someone trying to fall asleep here.

Age at the Introduction of Solid Foods During the First Year and Allergic Sensitization at Age 5 Years

CONCLUSION: Late introduction of solid foods was associated with increased risk of allergic sensitization to food and inhalant allergens.
Pediatrics 2010

Early Consumption of Peanuts in Infancy Is Associated With a Low Prevalence of Peanut Allergy Pediatrics 2008.

This is a rapidly changing field and I don't think there is a consensus for ideal age for introduction anymore. Just be sensible and introduce one new food at a time so that you can assess any adverse effects.
