The one thing i dislike about our housing plan is that there are no sidewalks or street lamps. It can get pretty dark out at night. I feel like we are magnets for everyone's dogs that get loose, they must see "animal people" written across our foreheads. Many people around here don't obey the leash laws either, and that drives me crazy. We have quite a few older neighbors, but I love them. They think of C as another grandson. I'd love more home owning families, some of the rentals in our neighborhood can get a little ghetto. We live in a small town so there isn't anything super close, but walking to downtown takes less then 10 minutes. I don't know if I'd change anything! My neighbours are mu best friends. Maybe more mature trees so there was more privacy? Our neighborhood is pretty Mr. Rogers friendly with a good mix of families, young couples, etc. Very dog friendly. My one small gripe would be that many of the streets of blind turns, so you have to watch our for cars passing through when going on walks. It's a perfect location--we're close to the bypass to get us places, and in between the university and downtown. And a shorter commute, but that's more of a work issue than an issue with where our neighborhood is located...I don't really want to be closer to the city epicenter than we are now. Some of our neighbors want to be buddy buddy and will just come over and strike up a conversation if we're outside in the yard, or even if we're visibly home, which DH loves and my introverted self HATES! lol Otherwise I really like it. Or old neighborhood was just amazingly gorgeous, so of course we got priced out when we needed a 2 bed! Also the schools in our neighborhood aren't good at all, but I knew we probably won't still be here when LOs are starting school so we didn't care (renting). And this is a small thing, but seriously, I wish people would pick up after their dogs. It's so gross. If you walk your dog, you need to pick up his mess. Period. But that was an issue in my old fancy neighborhood and my new, less fancy neighborhood. The majority of families in our neighborhood have older kids (high school or college), so DD doesn't have anyone her age to play with. Hopefully that will change as she gets older! Since we didnt have kids, and getting pregnant was proving difficult for us, we didnt think much of it. now, all i keep thinking about is how we'll have to move in the next 4 years to a better school district!
