Ideally the baby will come right at the start of his week of paid vacation so he doesn't need to take many more days off than that. He doesn't get weekends off or anything like that. In fact, the more I think about it I would actually prefer for the baby to come during the week because they deduct more from his paycheck for taking of weekend days than weekdays. </p> <p>Who knew I had such strong preferences? The sucky part was that I went into labor the night before so we were up all night. But I got an epidural eventually and got some sleep before she came. I gave birth at 12:59pm on a sunday but I didn't even realize it until later. It allowed us to have a quiet Friday to recover as not many people were able to visit the hospital and then we had Sat &amp; Sun for visitors (had an unplanned c-section so I didn't leave until Monday morning) My husband got to take Thurs &amp; Friday and then the whole next week and was able to spend 9 days with us before going back to work. Be sure that you know your hospitals policy because at our hospital if you give birth after 8pm, then you have to stay an additional night. So when my labor wasn't progressing after 36 hours they suggested that I do my c-section before 8pm so I didn't have to stay the extra day. (There were obviously more reasons then that for the c-section but at that point we had already been in the hospital for nearly 2 days! Hopefully starting labor after I've been awake for a bit, then give me a few hours to moon over my baby before my current dinner time. Give a grandma a full weekend with a newborn without wasting time off work, and not going overdue. Yeah, I'm hoping I'm pregnant this cycle, would be due on Sept. 16. I'm not holding my breath - though I REEEEEEEEALLY want a September baby. I would not recommend giving birth that late! </p> <p>They say its about 24 hours in that the babies realize they are out of the womb and kinda go nuts. She's been asking me if I could choose the day and time of when I would like to give birth what would they be, so she can pray for me.</p> <p>I don't know to be honest. I definitely want to be at home when I go into labor (water breaking) rather than at work. I was then thinking maybe weekend would be better than work day, but then isn't the hospital slower on weekends. </p> <p>If you could choose the day and time of when you give birth if you are currently pregnant, when and why? </p>
