DH was deployed throughout my pregnancy and then for the first four months of DS's life. I spent so many days wishing the deployment would just be over and feel like I missed out on DS being a newborn. It was just hard and I kick myself for it now. I'd also tell myself to hire a birth photographer and to have newborn pictures taken. Oh, and breastfeeding is HARD. Take it one day at a time. It's going to be okay. Our kids came at a time when I really needed to work hard, and that wasn't very wise of me in retrospect.
