@NYCaliMama: I tried everything under the sun and was pretty aggressive about it fr a month because I'm going back to w ok in January. No joy. She is 4 months old and determined not to take it. My return to work is going to be a nightmare.

@808love: @plantains: same here! DD 2 got a bottle pretty much everyday since Day 1, but ended up completely refusing them at around weeks 7-8. I don't think it matters when you initially give a bottle.

At the same time, I have seen nipple confusion (with my eldest daughter)... it does exist. All babies are just different.

We are still nursing (no bottles) at 16 months... I sort of regret not being more aggressive with bottle training when she was starting to refuse them, but at the same time, I know she's not going to preschool like this, so I know it's temporary and in the big picture, it's not really a huge deal.

Nursing to sleep! Still working on that.

Letting her nap on the nursing pillow. Fixed that at 8 months with a modified CIO in the crib.

I would have forced those nurses to let C room-in with me when I got re-admitted when she was 2 weeks old.

I had retained tissue that caused an infection in my uterus. I learned later that it was also what cause my milk never to come in. I was told she could stay with me in the ER but the nurses in the unit told me no. The night I had my D&C, my breasts started SQUIRTING milk. If C had been there with me, I would have been able to breastfeed. I didn't realize what happened until she was like 6 months old. I wish I had stood up for myself and made them let her stay.

@plantains: same here. We gave the bottle early on but LO didn't like it sometime later.

Hmm, I think I would have tried to use the stroller more. We wore L everywhere so now she hates being in the stroller with a passion. It gets kinda tiring carrying/wearing her 24/7!

If it makes you ladies feel better, I gave DD a bottle from day 1 but at 6 weeks she decided that she hated the bottle. Hasn't taken one since:(

I would truly enjoy my time with a newborn and not worry about work or going back to work. I was so worried about pumping and nursing and how I would schedule it all out when I went back to work, I was a mess. I wish I could've just chilled out, haha

Moms warned me about the bottle thing, so we gave both babies bottles from the very beginning! Wagon Jr never had any nipple confusion (took bottle, breast, and paci all just fine) and LMW ended up being bottle fed (and I'm exclusively pumping) and it all worked out just fine. Therefore this is one of my biggest new mom tips I give out since I benefited from it so much!!

I would definitely not have been a SAHM for as long as I was with Wagon Jr. (18 months). I was pretty miserable and everyone was so much happier when I went back to work. I probably should have gone back to work around 6-8 months.

Nursing to sleep. Worst decision ever. Seemed like a good idea at 3am in the morning and sleep deprived.

NOT.

I'm with you ladies about the bottle thing. LO will take one she's not very good with them at.all.

@Sammyfab: I have a feeling your do-over will be my newest one in a few months. LO is barely 6 months and already we're dealing with stranger danger and nighttime separation anxiety.

I would have given LO a bottle from day 1. We waited until week 3 because most of my friends, the hospital, etc suggested
waiting until at least 4 weeks. But LO has never taken a bottle despite our efforts for months... I wish I had seen what Mrs Bee says about not believing in nipple confusion before it was too late!

I would've left him in someone else's care more frequently when he was younger. He freaks out whenever me or daddy aren't nearby (with the exception of my sisters and BIL) and it sucks!!!! I just wish he'd be comfortable around everybody and not just a select few people. It especially breaks my heart when he screams in my MIL's arms. :(

I would go back and make sure she had a bottle every day so that we hopefully wouldn't be in the situation we are now where she doesn't like to take a bottle.

While there are many things I'll probably do differently with #2, today my biggest regret was ever introducing a pacifier to my LO. Fortunately she doesn't need it for anything but sleep, but it has always driven me insane! Despite how desperately she needs it... she's NEVER been able to keep that dang thing in her mouth and she's not quite at the point where she can replace it herself.

So today, after plugging her paci in for the millionth time and having to crawl under her crib to recover all the ones she threw overboard... I've decided my parenting do-over would be to ignore the advice to just give her a paci and burn every last one of them I ever received.

What would you go back and change??
