It always freaked them out!! We had a game where the cards had pictures on the front and colors on the back. I think there were four different possible colors on the back of the cards. I memorized what color each card was so I would have a better chance at picking matches right from the start. All the way through college my mom would randomly pull out the cards and see if I could remember what color was on the back and I always could. It just never got out of my head. Sometimes it's really useful - I'm rarely wrong about things past, but really frustrating if I can't remember something. When I was younger I used to get tested on pattern and color memory because of this weird ability (my parents are psychologists). I could hustle adults at the memory game. I could remember paragraph and everything but not what the words always said. Eidetic memories are also able to recall all of the other sensory memories in incredible detail and with remarkable accuracy. I had a friend in junior high that had an eidetic memory . . . she was quite an odd bird--amazing and kind, but odd--and really had a rough go of it in school. We enjoyed being friends because she helped me see (and remember) things differently, and she said I made her feel normal. Like Rubies and Mamamoose, i would try to picture the page from my notes that had the answer when I was stuck in an exam. The bad part, is that I find I get "mental images" very easily. For that reason, I don't enjoy hearing about people's sex lives, for example!
