I was in Providence because DH's job was there, now that we both work in the Boston area we live here, but there are some people who choose to live there w/o a job there. </p> <p>I would bike across to Cambridge from the train station. It was about ten minutes biking from Backbay. Or you can take the red line from South Station to Cambridge (there are four stops in Cambridge). It's not that long as it's just a few stops from South Station, the most annoying part about South Station is the massive crowds. </p> <p>The Fitchburg line comes straight into Porter Square in Cambridge. Between Santa Barbara and LA. We have amazing weather and a great community, enough of a small town that I see people I know when I'm out and about, but big enough that it's not sleepy/boring. I really like it here and don't want to move- but we are driving distance from my family, which is nice, and we have a good network of friends here. Winters can suck (last year) or really not be that bad, weather wise (this year). But commutes and housing can be long or expensive. We are in the city now, so live in a small condo. Will probably move to the burbs later this year and then we are looking at probably an hour commute for DH, and he works right downtown. </p> <p>I would live in the DC area. Have lived in NYC but don't really want to move back.
