We flip flopped on boys and eventually came to a top... 6 or so. I knew deep down baby was a boy but I still couldn't picture using any of them definitively. Baby was born and was in fact a boy and we didn't name him for almost 2 days!! We ended up scrapping EVERY name on our final list and eventually digging back up a name we had cut earlier in the pregnancy for reasons neither of us remember now.</p> <p>All that to say, I would just wait and see what happens and how you feel when baby is born! My parents were in our room pretty much as soon as he was born and cleaned up - and I told mom the options... she started calling him 'Kippy' so that immediately exed that name! :) Ethan it is.<br /> ~ I also had never looked up the 'meaning' of the names prior to him being born, but that also helped as the meaning of Ethan is strong, and I liked that for him. And I don't like the pronunciation as "Saw" only bc it sounds less girly to me. So I'm glad that I fell so hard for it early in my pregnancy, so I had plenty of time to figure out that it actually wasn't the right name for her and started to slightly bother me:). Even when I was in the throes of being in love with the name, I found a post from a couple of months ago questioning the longevity of that "Soy" sound and if it would bother me. I do think that meeting her ultimately helped us come to a decision, but we didn't know what to name her right after her birth. It actually took us two additional days to decide, and having the baby go nameless that long was kind of stressful. The nurses were always asking us if we'd decided yet. For me, the name we chose was a strong 2nd place. My husband was completely undecided and his favorite changed nearly daily. When D was born, he wasn't breathing, so I didn't get to actually meet him for several minutes. But before I even laid eyes on him, the name we chose just felt right. DH was so overwhelmed by labour and child birth and said to me "you choose his name, you earned it!" He didn't "look" like any of the names we had on the list, though. So we ended up choosing the only one we both felt ok about. It wasn't even in my or my husband's top 3, but it's still a good name and it fits him well. We have no regrets on how it ended up. And I agree with @SeptMomma12; let H pull a name and just go with it if you want to decide before the birth. Honestly, it came down to letting DH decide. He didn't like my top name choice and I wasn't sold on his top choice. So we picked the second name we both agreed on (that he initially suggested), and I let him pick the MN since I got to pick all of DS's name. I don't think there has to be a *perfect* name, but something you at least like that you both can agree on.
