@MrsLilybugg: yeah, I acutally know the doctor on a personal level so she was pretty honest with me, she did say that she wasn't the first doctor to complain about this nurse!

I wish my body would've started contracting on it's own. I ended up on pitocin which led to a slew of other interventions.

I wish I hadn't had my unexplained infection. Without that, I might have been able to go into labor naturally and deliver vaginally, though you never know since I didn't even make it to that point. The infection forced us to do an emergency c-section immediately and caused us to stay in the hospital for an additional week to treat my LO for the infection as well.

Overall it was very positive. But here's one about my body and one about my experience.

Once my water broke even water droplets from the shower hurt, my husband couldn't even put his hand on my back without it hurting (this is before the epidural), so I was a bit like hey body, get it together, this hurts enough without you getting all super sensitive on me.
As for experience I really liked the doctor who was on call when I first went in but then she left and another doctor came in and I felt like she was just trying to start fights with me. I was probably a bit sensitive after laboring for so long but she could have easily calmed my nerves but apparently that wasn't her style. She turned super sweet after LO was born but she provided zero information on anything even when asked and it really would have been helpful both during and after delivery to be a bit more informed about what she was doing. She didn't even tell me accurately what kind of tear I had until I had to go back a week later because I was having problems. Once I got a bit more info I felt like the situation could have been avoided so I was a bit pissed off.

I would have skipped the Stadol and just gotten the epidural when I decided I couldn't handle the pain anymore. The Stadol just made me feel wasted and I was terrified I'd stop breathing if I fell asleep. Ugh!

I would have loved not to have back labor! If I was allowed to have an epidural then I definitely would've gotten one, but had to cope without it which I eventually was happy with. Also I wish I didn't need an induction, really hoping I don't need an induction next time so then I don't have to be constantly monitored etc.

@78h2o: omg. Same here and I thought I was DYING. I was stuck in transition due to LO's position and said all kinds of crazy stuff to DH, like how he was making me feel like a prisoner of war for not letting me get any pain relief... I was a crazy person due to all the pain!

@aprk: haha thanks! It's amazing what a little baby does.. I remember crying in so much pain after, but being so in awe of my baby that I strangely thought I could do it again.. Must have been the hormones.

@aprk: @mrskc: they knocked me out pretty quick, but before that the pain was horrendous. I spent 2 hours in recovery because I was still in so much pain after.. I never lost any feeling in my legs, feet, or STOMACH. Haha.. I can laugh about it now, but I'm still a little bit traumatized.

@MrsLilybugg: She didn't respect my decisions or my doctor's. I could tell she was against my decision to have an epi & it just felt like she was judging em the whole time. She came in at the very end, shift change happened at 7 and I loved my first nurse from 7 - 7, she was just young & not comforting. She let my fever go too long before calling my doctor who then decided an immediate c-section was in both our best interest. I don't know I feel like she wasn't following my doc's phone instructions until my doc decided it was best for her to come in and see what was going on. I ended up in the OR 30 minutes later.

My doc actually apologized to me at my 6 week visit, saying she talked to the charge nurse about how rude she was!

@Mrs. Jacks: I loved my birth experience except for the fact that they insisted I get an IV because I threw up during transition at home and when I got to the hospital, they said I was dehydrated (besides having at least 64 oz of water before noon!). The nurse couldn't get it in and stuck me 4 times before they called in the anesthesiologist to give me the IV for fluids. Getting poked at 10 cm was no fun! I went unmediated so I was hoping to not be bothered with an IV! No such luck. I was so happy when I got to take it out!
