In regards to the old homage: "Your son is your son 'til he finds him a wife, but your daughter's your daughter for all of your life" I don't think that's always true. My mom and I don't talk much, and my MIL has no contact with her mother- being female sadly does not guarantee your kid is going to want anything to do with you as an adult. WHAAATT? I love my son, but he's a wild man at heart. He is in the kicking and headbutting phase, where he's totally giving me the smackdown for not getting his breakfast to the table fast enough then he's cuddling me 10 minutes later. I am personally the opposite of a daughter is forever. I moved to another continent while my brother just bought a house in the town where I grew up. I would have said girl. But ask me today, it's a boy all the way. Probably because I have a baby boy and i love him to death and cannot imagine anything different. He is the sweetest thing. Also, everyone told me (who has raised both girls/boys) that boys are easier too, busier and louder normally, but easier in the emotional/mental sense. However, you have point about how often boys grow up and do their own thing. it is really sad. My brother lives 6 hours from my mom and doesn't talk to her much. When he's home, he hangs with the guys and my dad. Whereas us girls are hanging out with my mom allll the time, we talk alll the time. We are best friends.
