I would say Italy because I walked by the Sistine Chapel and couldn't go in because I was on a 'Catholic church excursion' and my mom told me it was the wrong kind of church. :( And since I would be in Italy, we would probably take the opportunity to visit my family who live in France and visit friends in London. There's been a lot of building lately, maybe in the last couple years, including tearing down the lovely Calle Corazon to build a big shopping mall with American stores. Also, the beach is LOADED with seaweed these days, which I know isn't anything they can help, but it really was a bummer last time we were there (May 2014). We instead went to Turks & Caicos last winter and that is the place I'd want to revisit :) ETA: definitely DO NOT go in early January (to PDC) unless you like EDM festivals. Also, I think if you stayed at an AI resort and didn't leave the resort, you'd like it just fine. That being said, I did a study abroad in Costa Rica and would really love to take my husband back there to show him all the places I love! I found the island so relaxing. The water and beaches were beautiful, the food was fresh and local and amazing, and we had a great room at an inexpensive hotel with our own private hot tub.
