I find my work very fulfilling and interesting, but I do sometimes wish that it paid just a little bit more, especially now that we are preparing to start TTC. So while I can't say I always completely love my job, I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. It's always been a part of me. I started out in marketing for about 3 yrs then went back to school to become a physical therapist. I like not being behind a desk and helping people, but it's hard on my body and honestly the patients can get annoying. I Wish I'd had the guts to go a more "non traditional" route and gone to culinary school. That'd didn't really seem like it was an option with my family though. We'll see if that continues once I start full time as a professor next year. Would not change the path I took. I wish I could go back and miss the moment where I was injured which led me to having to seperate from the Military. I love being a preschool teacher. Yes, the pay is definitely not the best and I wish some people would take the time to realize that I'm NOT just a "glorified babysitter." But overall, I love it. I went to college for K-6 and then later got certified for Birth-K, so I can teach kids from ages 0-6th grade. I feel the same way you do about Corporate America, but honestly I'm paid well and work with people I like (LOVE my boss) and I enjoy what I do. Also, I met DH through work, so I can't say that I wish I had gone a different route. Of course I would enjoy teaching art a lot more than sitting in a windowless cube all day, but the reality is I would be living a much different life most likely worrying about money all the time so realistically I wouldn't ever make the jump. I am a physician, and I'm almost done with my training, thank goodness, I think I'll like my career after this part is over - but it has been very rough. I wish I would have gone into engineering, a nice desk job with weekends and holidays off and a job right out of college and not dealing with emotionally draining situations day in and day out. Or else I would have started a photography business. Or both. :) And then I'd be a yoga teacher on the side. (I haven't given this any thought at all, can you tell?) I always thought I should have gone into the medical field to be a nurse or a PA. But with the holiday and weekend hours, I'm glad I have the career that I have. I wish I wasn't working in Corporate America for one. I wish I had thought about being a full-time mom and chosen a career that suits my lifestyle better. I would love to be in some sort of public service job that helps people, rather than contributes to some stockholder's bottom line. Do you wish you had chosen a different career?
