No teeth, so there's that....for sickness or regressions (more like WW's and growth spurts here), we either feed her (because we know she ate less during the day) or we just let her whine a little in her bed. If she needs advil, we give it. She just kind of tosses and moans pathetically. She doesn't usually wake up screaming, if she does and it goes on for a minute or two or she starts standing, I go into see what's going on, since it's out of character. Ever since we sleep trained her the first time, I've never really had to re-sleep train her. Once in awhile for naps she cries for about 5 minutes or so, then is out cold and is fine again!

We did CIO without really trying, she went down pretty good on her own. We've never had a sleep regression, she will wake up when teething & usually Aleve or Tyenol does the trick. When she wakes up she's usually whiney/talking to herself, not crying/upset. If she is very upset I'll go in and comfort her but usually she goes back to sleep within a few mintutes on her own. It's worse if I go in there becasue she thinks it's time to get up.

For the most part teething hasn't affected her sleep, since the 1st two. She will cry out in her sleep but go right back to sleep. There has been one night that she woke up at 4 hysterically crying and wouldn't go back to sleep unless in our arms since we CIO at 6 months.

@MusicaV: LOL and aw! at him pulling himself up and not knowing how to get back down. Poor kid!

Illness - we didn't let him CIO too much bc he already has tons of mucuous/congestion so crying caused this to increase. I was afraid it'd affect his (ability) breathing. If he wouldn't settle back down, I just brought him into bed with us and resume sleep training when he felt better.

We did CIO at 3.5 months, LO is now 15.5 months.

Regression: never had one. If he wakes up, he goes back to sleep.

Teething: If it's bad, he gets teething tablets or Tylenol before he goes to bed.

Illness: Tylenol if needed, and we turn on the humidifier in his room. Once or twice it's been really bad and we either brought him into bed with us or let him sleep on us in the chair in his room.

The only really bad time we had was when he learned to pull up but couldn't figure out how to sit down. DH came home late one night and saw on the monitor LO standing up in his crib, not crying but just standing and looking around. He eventually got tired enough to go back down.

we didn't notice regressions--not that there weren't issues, but we didn't have any phases of weird sleep. there are nights here and there where he starts crying at some point and settles down, or he doesn't--for the latter we go pick him up once, maybe give him tylenol if we feel that he is teething or sick, and then go back to CIO.

We didn't do CIO until he was 10.5 months, but since then, I've always been a softy if he's not feeling well. But as soon as he's on the mend, it's back to being tough. This has meant that there have been several occasions between then and now in which we've had to let him CIO a bit, but it's never long and he knows when we mean business now.

Talk to me about regression, teething, and illnesses!

How does that go?

(Just something I've always been curious about.)
