5.5 months and he went from a park and play to his crib. It went great! I was definitely more upset about it than he was. :)

We sleep trained at 11 months, my son stayed in his own room until he turned 2, and then we began co-sleeping again....he'll be 4 in December.

Not what I planned, but it's working out, lol.

Eight months and it was terrible. We moved, put him in a new room and a new bed in the span of two days. His sleep went to hell for months. Don't do that.

Almost 9 months old. He sleeps better in his own room than he did with us, and I still get snuggles. He wakes up to nurse around 5-ish lately, and he just falls back asleep in bed with us afterward. It's a great compromise for everyone! He is 15 months old now.

DS went from sleeping in a pnp in our room to his crib in his room at about 6 months. It was easy for him and he started to wake at night less being in his own room.

My son went from a bassinet in our room to the bassinet in his room to his crib over the space of a couple of weeks. We originally moved him unexpectedly at 13 weeks, because he had a diaper explosion all over our bed and we had to dry clean our duvet and mattress cover, so we had to sleep in the guest room...we figured since we were moving rooms anyway we might as well put him in his nursery. About 2 weeks later we put him in his crib. The transition was totally seamless for him, not so much for me! The first couple of nights I was basically glued to the monitor. It got much better about 3-4 nights in, and now its great!

We transitioned him from our bed to his own crib in his own room at right away 6 months. Our bed really wasn't big enough to co-sleep long term, and D really wasn't on-board with continuing after 6 months. Luckily, he LOVES his crib.

@Vegmama: Happily none whatsoever! We're not big CIO fans (although every situation is different - just didn't seem to work well for C) so we were relieved that wasn't necessary. We did get a Merlin's Magic sleepsuit for him during that transition and I think it helped. He would have a few minutes of fussiness each night for a couple of days and then he stopped altogether and bed time was no big deal. A couple weeks later he was sleeping 12 hours straight! It was the best move for him at that time. :)

We just did at 14 months, so I can't answer the poll! For a transition we did two months with her on a floor bed in our room and then just tried her in the crib one night. No tears, just went right to sleep, and has been sleeping through the night in her crib since. I think it's just a developmental readiness thing, and we were clearly past readiness when we tried.

I did it cold turkey at 6 months and crib transitioned and sleep trained all at once. She usually gets up anywhere between 4:00-5:30 and I'll bring her in bed with me then.

@Vegmama: for what its worth, we had to do sleep lady shuffle sleep training to get her in her own bed, but there was no issue moving her to a new room. her sleep instantly improved, too.

@Silva: While I'd love to have her in there forever, I think I need to look at it with these positives in mind. It would be so nice to be able to walk around the room without tip-toeing. And, we live in a house with a ton of windows, so finding places to have sex has been "interesting", ha. I can't even imagine bed sex anymore! ;)

her own bed in our room from 6 - 9 months, her own room at 10 months. It was awesome. I still remember how free I felt to be able to sit in bed and read, walk in and out of my room after 7:00, have sex in my bed, and so on.
I loved co sleeping, but I love having our own spaces, too.

@coopsmama: Did you have to do any kind of sleep training when you did the transition? We did gentle, accompanied sleep training with her at 6 months, and she's a champ at bedtime now. I'm afraid that the new room will flip it all around in her mind, and she'll freak out!

We moved C to his own room and bed at 7 months. Before that we'd bed-shared but we moved him when we started to feel like we were more of a hindrance to his sleep than a help.

M is still in our room at almost 2 months.

We are currently co-sleeping with our 8 month old. She's in a pack and play next to our bed. We bedshare if she wakes around 4ish, and wants to nurse ... She'll usually go back to sleep in our bed until 7.

We're toying with the idea of moving her to her own bed within a month or two. I love having her in our room, but we wake her up when we come to bed, and my partner wakes her in the mornings when he's trying to tiptoe around. I just think we'd all be better rested without waking each other.

Curious when you made the transition, after co-sleeping for an extended time.

Also, can't they just stay in our rooms forever?!? :)
