@FliegepilzHut: I think the HSG and sonohystogram were supposed to be during days 5-12 of my cycle so that you're not accidentally pregnant while doing them. But, since I was on bcp through the whole testing phase, I was able to schedule them any time. I think I even skipped a placebo week to make the tests work around my schedule and the holidays.

I'm just starting with IVF. They do not batch at our clinic. I should be starting BCP this week (once AF gets here). I am scheduled for an SHS (or mock transfer) on 05/12, which is required at my clinic. I don't think she based that appointment on my cycle (possibly since I am starting BCP?), it seemed to be based around RE's schedule to be honest. I did not have to update my HSG (which was done 04/2013). I needed an updated PAP, which I just did, and I need to update my day 3 blood work once AF gets here.

DH does not need to update his SA, but our doctor recommends that he provides a sample to freeze to take some of the pressure off. Apparently our RE has had some patients who have been unable to provide a sample the day of due to stress, and didn't have frozen back up. He also needs to be tested for HIV and Hep B & C I believe (I'd have to look at the paperwork).

We have to take the class on injections as well, which we are going to talk about scheduling at our 05/12 appointment, and then we will go from there.

It's kind of overwhelming, and I still have a bunch of questions, but I am sure I will get some more answers at our next appointment. Best of luck to you!

My clinic is only closed two weeks for cleaning during Christmas and New Year's so they don't do batches. I took BCP the first attempt, but my cycle was cancelled on Day 4 due to high progesterone so we did a different protocol the next attempt two months later. With that one, I didn't use BCP and it worked great for me. I believe most women do use BCP first, though!

I was batched, because my RE only does IVF two weeks out of the month. He's the only doctor at his practice so he wants to be sure he has time to see all of his other patients. If he's doing constant IVFs, he may have to cancel other appointments.

I went on BC for maybe 3 weeks, I already don't remember. I believe I started stims on day 3.

ETA: And the first IVF we did worked, so I've got no issues with being batched!

July 31st was probably around CD 1 or 2. I can't remember exactly. But it took me typically 1 or 2 days after stopping BC to get my period. They weren't really concerned about what CD it was. I went in for a baseline ultra sound on the 30th so that they could make sure that everything was quiet and then I was given the ok to start the shots.

@FliegepilzHut: The BC shifted it a little, but only by a day or two. The reason for the BC was to "quiet my ovaries" so that the dr. could control everything. I was on a lupron flare protocol so he wanted to quiet everything down and then shock the ovaries a little. I just found my calendar in my email - I was on BC from beginning of July with my last pill on July 28th. I started the injections on July 31st. He would have kept me on the BC longer if my test results had not have come back.

@FliegepilzHut: I just did my saline sono last week. If you're on BC pills it can be done at any time I believe. I had to be on doxycycline for 5 days - one day before, one day of the sono and the rest after the sono. My first one was very messy but this one was great.

Mine was based on my cycle, but they did have me take BC until all test results were in. I had an initial phone consultation in June (then took at 2 week vacation). I had my first appointment in early July and immediately went on BC. I then had to do tons of blood tests. I started stimming early August.

A SHS was required, but I had one done already through my regular doctor.

I wasn't batched, but I was on bcp. I actually ended up doing 2 cycles of bcp to get me through lots of the testing, which took about 6 weeks longer than expected (it was over Christmas and New Years, and we had to time it with some of DH's appointments and my work schedule). The tests I had to do before they cleared me to start stims were: baseline ultrasound and bloodwork (CD 2-5, then started bcp), HSG, sonohystogram, hysteroscopy (I ended up doing two since they found polyps that had to be removed), and a mock embryo transfer. As soon as I finished all of the tests and we had DH's contribution, I stopped bcp and started stims I think on CD 4.

A couple of us posted our protocols and schedules on the IVF thread. If you're ever bored, it's worth skimming through!
