Luckily both my sister and I have kept our names after marrying. I didn't like the idea of taking his last name and, even though he would have considered it, I didn't want him to take mine either. So ... four years after we got married we made up a new last name and both changed our names. Our reasoning was that we are a new family, so why not have a new last name.
