I loved it, but I was in my 20s and would be doing schoolwork/classes/studying from 8am-11pm most days. Even most of my meals and socializing was done while working on school stuff. Now that I have a family I prefer to spend my free time with them. I live in a country where public higher education is free and most people do not end up on welfare after 4 degrees. My own DH benefitted from free university in his country. Despite free education, there are still plenty of people doing blue collar jobs (also through free programs). Wagon Sr. actually works at universities and a big part of the reason is so he can take classes for free and they're right near his work. He's working on 2 masters right now. As his spouse I can take classes too, but I never have. My work also offers tuition remission. But I hate studying. I love working. The only downfall was that it meant living 3 1/2 hrs apart from DH for 27 months. At age 30 when I started, I was definitely a mature student and years older than most of my classmates. Despite the fact that I had to relearn some of the complex math and physics that I hadn't used in years, I actually had better marks in my M.Sc. than my B.Sc! </p> <p>DH and I put off TTC so that I could go back to school, and while I wouldn't be opposed to furthering my education, I'm not sure it's something that would work out for us again. I love educational research, and would do a PhD in a heartbeat if there were better opportunities at the end. My MIL is an adjunct professor, and she earns less than I will be as a teacher here in the US, and, since I recently moved here, I will be starting from the bottom all over again.
