I didn't know you were expecting! Congrats! My sister was given an EDD that was over 2-3 weeks earlier than her final OB. She kept telling the OB she felt like the baby was due closer to her first EDD, but the OB wouldn't change it. Well, baby arrived 2 weeks "early" - almost 9 lbs! All the nurses confirmed she was a fully developed baby. But the OB still wouldn't admit to the dating being wrong. She only went by what my sis could remember as her last period, but she is never regular.

Agree with what others said about the earliest U/S being the most accurate. Apparently there's much less inter baby variation at the earliest stages, so they usually stick with that.

I'm in the opposite situation, where I know absolutely when I conceived (within 2-3 days) and the sonograms don't agree! It's been tricky convincing doctors to trust me over their machines.

FWIW, I've always heard that the earlier u/s is more of an accurate measure of EDD even though the baby is "tiny" babies grow at different rates, so further along the pregnancy it isn't as 'objective'

I had some spotting but no actual period. I thought I knew when I ovulated and it was a couple weeks after the spotting which made sense. I had a dating ultrasound and it coincided with what I thought so we use that as the due date. I have been measuring nearly a week ahead on u/s since then so I suppose it could be off but I think early u/s are most accurate. My due date hasn't changed.

With DS my cycle was off and I was certain when he was conceived. They did a dating u/s to confirm and adjusted my due date.

I had crazy PCOS cycles, but my dating ultrasound gave me one date, my LMP gave me another date, and my anatomy scan gave us a third date (all within the same week). My MW kept picking whichever date was later (6th, 8th, 10th)...but LO was a week 'late' anyways.

I think it might be because I'm in Cali and we have a rule that we get 4 weeks off before our due date. If they are off... it could be a big deal for either the state or us depending.

I had no idea when my LMP was so we just used the first ultrasound to figure out the due date. They told me that subsequent ultrasounds wouldn't be as accurate in predicting due date? Sounds weird that they would change it for some people!

My first ultrasound had lo measuring a little small, but since my periods were irregular I kind of just went with it. But then thinking about it I started to worry because the day the dr gave me didn't really seem possible.. Anyway then at my NT scan I jumped ahead a few days and then toward the end of my pregnancy I learned that my dr had wrote in my file a new edd based on that new date (which I guess was consistent with my anatomy scan.) We stuck to that date, and lo was born exactly on that date. :)

I don't see the point in moving the date around so much! I would think if an u/s is done and they give you a date and other u/s are a few days off, just stick with the first date! Why move it around?!

I knew my due date was going to be off. I told my OB is was off. I had a viability u/s at 6w6d and they moved my due date. I think it was off 12 days. I didn't have anymore u/s after that tho.

@junebugmama: I know. Lol. We are doing a homebirth again and if we have to, we'll do another ultrasound towards the end. I was surprised my midwife wanted to go back to the original date instead of the later.

I was breastfeeding and have PCOS and struggled for 3 years to get pregnant with my first. It never crossed my mind that I would get pregnant with #2 when I had a 9 month old. Lol. I don't even know when my last cycle was.

My LO was a big surprise too... I was just guessing on my last known period because I wasn't tracking at all. It moved a bunch of times. Within a few weeks... I believe my original due date was March 20th... then it was moved to March 10th and then it was moved to March 1st... back to March 10th and then back to March 1st and the baby came March 4th.

I was ttc the cycle I conceived but my last cycle had been on the long side (35 days) so I was a little skeptical of my date based on lmp. The pregnancy did measure a few days small for a while but my ob said as long as it is within a week, they don't change it. I would say not to worry too much but to keep this in mind if you start getting pressure to induce after your due date.

My sil just had a surprise 2nd baby and ended up being induced a week after her date and it all turned out fine! Good luck!

Did your due date change depending on different ultrasounds? Baby #2 was a big surprise, I had no idea I was pregnant. The original ultrasound said I was due late Sept. Following ultrasounds (weekly due to hormonal issues) had baby measuring a few days smaller so the RE gave me a different date. Today baby is measuring on track with the first ultrasound and my midwife said from now on we are sticking to the original date. So confused. Lol. I know baby will come when it's time but still, I'm obsessing.
