I typically nursed to sleep in the early weeks. Then I had him make sleep associations with nap times following EASY. It took about two weeks before he made the connection with naps and being inside his crib. He also figured out how to self soothe by sucking on his fingers. I used to nurse to sleep but now he doesn't fall asleep when I nurse. So I put him in his crib and he usually kicks and rolls around for 5-10 mins before falling asleep.</p> <p>I think for us the trick is that he's really tired but not overtired. My babe is 8 months+1 week and I aim to put him down 3 hours after he wakes up from his second nap. We started nursing to sleep and bedsharing as required although I had always nursed to sleep at night.</p> <p>LO is now sixteen months old and is back to sometimes putting herself to sleep and almost STTN and has been making real progress with sleep since she turned fourteen months old. Miss A has never responded well to CIO so nursing to sleep has been a real sanity saver, as has my acceptance that she's just not "that" kid when it comes to sleep. That's interesting because LOs has followed that pattern somewhat. Her naps have definitely improved as she's gotten more mobile - not crawling yet but rolling/pivoting/sitting. </p> <p>@birdofafeather: I kept hoping that would happen for us, and I wonder if I've just waited to long.
